In this soft and fleeting moment, he too felt like a beautiful flower. His dress was the same colour as the yellow freesias that were growing outside his window, and he felt at ease. Oh how he longed to travel outside of the château walls and walk in the garden: the long fabric around his waist floating over the dewey grass. He wished to feel the rain on his skin. He imagined himself dancing under the sun-soaked trees and feeling free. Perhaps when a was alone, he would take that chance and try to fly.

A redrawn sketch of my characters Apfel and Lucy. Apfel was HEAVILY inspired by the painting “Portrait of a Moor.” I already had his character, but no clothing to put him in. If you are wondering why he is in Tudor clothing and Lucy is in Baroque, there is a story behind that lol. And no, they aren’t vampires. But they are d3@d…

Did you know that there were over 200 people of African origin living in Britain during the Tudor era!? Bet you didn’t. I would highly suggest reading the article “Black Tudors: free men and women in England” from the Selly Manor museum. There’s also the book “Black Tudors, the Untold Story” by Miranda Kaufmann that i would highly suggest.

And he realised one day, that he looked older than he was. The constant stress and smoking had worn his face down like a field that had been planted too many times with the same fruit. He cheeks sagged, and his eyes were puffy from tired crying. Day in and day out his soul was chipped away by work and by people who didn't care about him. He was killing himself, and he knew it. But he couldn't stop.

Lines crept into his lips as a somber expression had taken the place of smiles months ago. He was growing older, and being only 23, that scared him. He would never stay young forever, no matter how many times he had attempted to do so, and some part of him hated that.

It was too late to turn back the clock. He had made too many mistakes. He had said things he regretted and wished he could erase, but it was impossible to recant those words.

He wanted to be holy. But he was only a man. by @horatio_starkey

You may want something that’s bad for you, just to feel. You may run away from the comfort that you need because it makes you afraid. But you’ll never be happy when you try to have both.

A new piece that i dreamed up at work. Pretty happy with how it came out. Left it unfinished on purpose. This isn’t a scene that’s literally happening; just a metaphor for the relationships and conflicts between August, Rainsford, and Tuesday.

(And for obvious reasons, i added fabric)
