*NEW* Situated within the quiet, tree-lined streets of Centennial Park, this extensive heritage renovation and extension reimagines a grand family residence while carefully preserving the character and craftsmanship of the original home. The project involved a complete transformation of the existing two-storey dwelling, balancing contemporary functionality with the architectural integrity demanded by strict heritage requirements. Internally, the home was entirely reconfigured to create expansive new living spaces, including a bespoke kitchen with adjoining butler’s pantry and breakfast room, multiple formal and informal living areas, five bedrooms with ensuites and two additional bathrooms, as well as a carefully detailed attic conversion featuring an additional bedroom, rumpus room, ensuite and powder room. To the rear, the home was extended to open seamlessly onto a generous outdoor entertaining terrace complete with an external fireplace, lounge, BBQ, bar area and pool, reinforcing the connection between indoor living and landscape. A key focus throughout the build was the preservation and restoration of heritage detailing. Existing staircases, ornate cornices, ceilings, doors and timber finishes were meticulously retained and integrated alongside contemporary architectural interventions. Externally, the façade was restored and repainted, while recycled roof tiles were sourced to match the original roofscape and maintain the home’s historic character. Delivered within an impressive 12-month programme, the project successfully navigated material lead time pressures, evolving interior design direction and complex stakeholder coordination. The result is a refined and enduring residence that honours its heritage setting while embracing modern family living in one of Sydney’s most prestigious park-side enclaves. #centennialparkresidencei _____⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔨 | @horizonbuilt⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🖋️ | @ergoarchitecture 🖋️ | @millarddesignstudio 📐 | Fred Barros Engineering ⠀⠀⠀ 📷 | @tfadtomferguson ⠀⠀⠀ Building projects you’ll love, and love building together. #builtbyhorizon #teamhorizon #horizonbuilt #lovebuildingtogether by @horizonbuilt
We’re thrilled to congratulate Horizon @horizonbuilt on winning the Alterations & Additions over $15 million category at the MBA Awards for Northbridge Residence II, as well as being named NSW Master Builder of the Year for the second time. Designed by DKC Architecture and built by Horizon, this project transformed a dated waterfront house into a contemporary family retreat. Partridge was proud to contribute as structural engineers, solving the complex challenges of the steep site, limited access, and existing house footprint. Congratulations again to Horizon on these outstanding achievements. See link in bio for the full story. At The Oaks Luxury Farmstay, guest pods are set into the landscape, with sweeping curved timber sliding doors following the circular form of each pavilion and opening the interiors to expansive rural views. The gentle radius softens the architecture and creates a more fluid connection between the rooms and the landscape beyond. From inside, the broad glazed openings bring in abundant natural light and allow the outlook to become an integral part of the space. These were far from conventional sliding doors. Each pod required four curved door and window units, with custom curved tracks, glazing and timber joinery all needing to align precisely. Prototypes were built and tested to refine the mechanics before the final Spotted Gum units were manufactured. The result is a striking piece of bespoke joinery that follows the architecture beautifully while framing the surrounding landscape. Architect: Mañosa & Co. Designed by Studio Shand, 'Cork House' is nestled in the tranquil Palm Beach area. This family home beautifully merges contemporary aesthetics with the charm of its original timber and brick structure. The design thoughtfully integrates the surrounding parkland and waterway, preserving the architectural heritage while embracing modern living. Studio Shand’s approach of emphasizing essential materials, geometric forms, and meticulous craftsmanship, captures the essence of both the natural environment and the home’s rich history. By blending modern materials such as cork, timber, tile, and micro-cement with elements of the original construction, Cork House provides a living experience that respects its past while catering to the contemporary family needs. #palmbeachresidencei _____⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔨 | @horizonbuilt⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🖋️ | @studioshand 🖋️ | MPN Engineering 📷 | @traianos Building projects you’ll love, and love building together. #builtbyhorizon #teamhorizon #horizonbuilt #lovebuildingtogether by @horizonbuilt
Triangles up top We’ve designed these (almost completed) top-floor spaces to suit the sloped shapes at the tips of our terrace row. We've rebuilt structure due to dilapidated fabric and lowered framing to unlock additional volume, creating sizable ensuites with dormers facing both north and south to Wimbo Park. Our joinery here is some of our favourite. By sliding cabinetry into pockets off party walls and pairing tonal tiling with granites in wet areas we’ve created spaces that are playful and practical, whilst clearly nodding to their Victorian shells. We’ve also pushed services and storage to hidden areas to further free the floor, allowing these once-compromised spaces to be some of the best here. Our laneway homes are up! Fantastic to see block, steel and frames up on our 60m elevation that fronts Wimbo Park These structures have developed from early visuals and models, retaining a clear masonry grid with blade walls and projecting windows that frame surrounding parkland. They have been designed to articulate a fitting new face for our favourite park in Surry Hills with a street wall that wraps around the corner and undulates in line with large eucalypts and pines on site. Set back in the heart of Edgecliff, this corner terrace house has undergone an extraordinary transformation. Our team took on the challenge to breathe new life into this 3-storey terrace home, adding an additional storey whilst carefully balancing modern luxuries with the home's inherent character. One of our standout achievements on this project was introducing a basement level – a rarity in Edgecliff – providing invaluable additional space for relaxation, entertainment, and an added additional space tailored to the needs of the owners. Every aspect of the new layout was considered to maximize functionality and comfort for the family. This included adding a new room and ensuite built into the previously impractical attic level. Despite facing obstacles along the way – including unpredictable weather – the team delivered a home that not only reflects the vision of its owners, but also harmonizes seamlessly with its surroundings. Edgecliff Residence I is a testament to the enduring appeal of revitalizing old spaces and giving them new life. #edgecliffresidencei _____⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔨 | @horizonbuilt⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🖋️ | @structure_eng 🖋️ | @lbinteriors 📷 | @simonwhitbreadphoto by @horizonbuilt
