A beautiful MTO Crocodile leather strap by Nomad Watch Works, and I have it paired with an FKM rubber underside lining.

Given how humid it is here pretty much all year round, this just made the most sense to me. I still get to enjoy the look and feel of a leather strap, but with a little more peace of mind when it comes to moisture.

This is also on a spring deployant clasp instead of the traditional pin buckle to enhance strap longevity; much easier to put on and take off too which is always a plus.

For the stitching, I went with a closed-loop style to lean a little more into the โ€œPanerai look". I can't quite pull off the usual thick, rugged PAM-style straps, but I can at least have it look a little closer to one!

Anyway, if you're thinking of a new strap for your PAM, there are still a couple more days for Nomad's Panerai Month promo! Use code PANERAI10 to get yourself 10% off their Panerai strap selections until 31 Aug 2025.

An obscure reference.

There's so little information and owner-review about this it made me question if the reference number was right, or even existed.

But now I feel every millimeter of its existence.

- 40mm
- 300m WR
- Bi-metal; Titanium and Steel
- First gen bracelet
- Caliber OP III (ETA 7750 based automatic)

Also, this thing is 16mm thick.
40mm x 16mm!

On paper, it's absurd.
On the wrist, a different story.

I'd never been a Pam-man.

Absolutely iconic designs, but their models largely don't fit me as they fit me largely, ha-ha.

I've tried the modern PAMs at 38mm and 40mm, but ironically found them a little.. thin, which surprisingly, is a complain. They're also a bit underwhelming having just 30m/100m of water resistance. So, I mainly appreciated them from afar.

UNTIL.. the other day I was at this dude's place for something non-watch related, and glanced upon what seemed like a Panerai just sitting quietly at a corner of his counter.

I asked about it (of course); turns out he's a watch collector and that was a 40mm PAM from the early-2000s. He was real nice and let me try it on.

MAN..
It. just. felt. right.

He also brought out a 44mm titanium PAM which wore very well too and we spent the next hour or so talking about his collection, until I had to leave for something else.

Since then, I slid down the rabbit hole of early-2000s' PAMs and after quite a bit of digging, found THIS particular reference that ticked most of the boxes for me.

It's getting lengthy so I'll share more about this piece in the next set of pics.

Jubilee'd the OP39, finally.

Always liked the idea of an Oyster Perpetual on Jubilee, but it's terribly hard to find one that fits an OP39 other than the Super Jubilee.

After going through tons of options, I finally found one that does, and... I've come to appreciate the Oyster bracelet better.

Maybe only the 63600 can really hit the spot.

The search continues. Pictured here is an Oyster Perpetual 39 with a fitted Jubilee bracelet.
