As HortiNigeria wraps up its journey, we extend our deepest gratitude to our Donor, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Nigeria, whose visionary support made this impact possible.

We also appreciate all our partners, farmers, financial institutions, government stakeholders, private sector actors, and the communities we’ve worked with.

Together, we strengthened Nigeria’s horticulture sector, empowering smallholder farmers, advancing climate-smart and eco-efficient solutions, and laying foundations for long-term transformation.

Thank you for your dedication and efforts towards building a sustainable and inclusive horticulture sub-sector in Nigeria.

Through strategic advocacy, HortiNigeria supported the increase of the Credit Risk Guarantee (CRG) from 30% to 50%, unlocking affordable financing for agribusinesses and farmers. This reform is a game-changer—reducing lenders’ perceived risk, accelerating crate manufacturing and distribution, improving product quality, and strengthening Nigeria’s horticulture value chain.

By engaging policy leaders and driving evidence-based advocacy, we’re demonstrating that the right policies can stimulate innovation, attract investment, and boost productivity across the sector.

For years, smallholder farmers like Buhari struggled not because they lacked skills or dedication, but because they lacked access to affordable credit. With support from HortiNigeria and @lapo.microfinance.bank Buhari finally secured an agricultural loan, expanded his farm, invested in better inputs, and boosted his income.

But it didn’t stop there. Financial literacy training helped him manage risks, make informed decisions, and plan for the future with confidence.

Access to finance isn’t just about loans, it’s about unlocking growth, resilience, and long-term stability.
