🎀 OCTOBER IS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH 🎀

October is a time to spread awareness, support those affected by breast cancer, and encourage people to take their health seriously.

🌸 A LITTLE HISTORY
Breast Cancer Awareness Month began in 1985 through a collaboration involving the American Cancer Society. What started as a week-long campaign to educate women about breast cancer screening and mammograms eventually grew into the month-long movement we recognize today. (American Cancer Society⁠)

🎀 WHY DOES IT MATTER?
Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting women. In the United States, about 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer during their lifetime. At the same time, advances in research, early detection, and treatment have helped improve outcomes for many people. (American Cancer Society⁠)

💗 HOW CAN WE SPREAD AWARENESS?
• Learn about breast cancer and its risk factors.
• Know what is normal for your body and talk to a healthcare provider about changes or concerns.
• Encourage the women in your life to talk with their healthcare providers about appropriate screening.
• Support breast cancer patients, survivors, and their families.
• Share reliable information instead of myths.
• Wear pink or use the pink ribbon as a reminder—but remember that awareness should also lead to action.

🎀 REMEMBER:
Awareness is more than wearing pink. It is about education, early detection, support, research, and making sure no one feels alone in their journey.

💗 This October, let’s spread knowledge, show compassion, and stand together for everyone affected by breast cancer.
