I backpacked Europe for 4 months and stayed in 20+ hostels—here’s how much I actually paid (and how I made sure I always got a good one). 🇪🇺🎒

Hold my beer in that vintage car…I’ll go into detail.

🚀 Comment “EUROPE HOSTELS” and I’ll send you my full list of the best hostels I stayed in, with prices, booking tips, and what I’d do differently.

Let’s be real: hostels make or break your trip. I didn’t wing it—I planned ahead and it made all the difference. Here’s how I did it without blowing my budget:

🛏️ 1. I pre-booked everything—and it saved me money and stress
I booked 1–2 weeks in advance for every city. Last-minute = limited options, overpriced dorms, and missing out on the good ones. The best hostels sell out first, especially female-only dorms and social hostels with free dinners or events.

💸 2. Prices ranged from €15–38/night depending on the country
	•	Eastern Europe: €15–25
	•	Portugal, Spain, Italy: €20–43
	•	France, Germany, Scandinavia: €30–41

✅ I used Hostelz.com to compare Hostelworld & Booking.com so I never overpaid—and some hostels only show up on one site, so I caught deals others missed.

👯‍♀️ 3. Social hostels aren’t always the “party” ones
Some hostels had pub crawls and free sangria, others had family dinners and walking tours. I picked based on reviews from other solo travelers, not just flashy photos.

🧼 4. Cheap doesn’t mean bad—but I always checked reviews first
I filtered for hostels with solid reviews on safety, cleanliness, and community. A €17 hostel in Budapest was better than a €32 one in Paris. Value isn’t about price—it’s about what you get.

🔥 5. Planning gave me freedom
Because I wasn’t scrambling for last-minute beds, I spent my time enjoying cities, not hunting for places to sleep. Backpacking doesn’t mean chaos—you can be spontaneous within structure.

🚀 Comment “EUROPE HOSTELS” and I’ll DM you my full list + booking tips that saved my budget (and my sanity).

Solo travel isn’t just about seeing the world—it’s about discovering what you’re capable of in it. 🎒🌍

It’s walking into a hostel knowing no one—and leaving with five new best friends.
It’s sharing midnight beers on a rooftop with travelers from all over the world.
It’s getting lost in a city you can’t pronounce and realizing… you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.

✅ That’s why we believe in hostels.
Because they’re more than cheap beds—they’re connection hubs.
They’re where strangers turn into travel buddies, plans are made over toast and instant coffee, and nights out turn into lifelong memories.

Hostels aren’t just a place to sleep—they’re where the story starts.

Laugh—when you miss your train, butcher the local language, or share a dorm with a snorer that could shake the bunk.
Smile—because sitting solo at a café in a brand-new city feels scary at first… and then incredibly powerful.
Celebrate every awkward moment—it means you’re growing.

And while you’re out there doing the brave thing, we’ve got your back.

We build tools for backpackers, by backpackers:
✅ We work with Hostelz to help you compare Hostelworld & Booking in one place—plus filters like female-only dorms, privacy curtains, solo traveler-friendly hostels, and more.
✅ We collaborate with platforms like Hostelworld to make the booking process smarter, faster, and better for travelers like you.

More features are coming. Smarter filters, better search, and more ways to help you travel the way you want.

Because at the end of the day, solo travel isn’t really solo—it’s a global community of backpackers, hostel owners, and fellow adventurers.

So take the leap.
Book the flight.
Say yes to the weird invitation.
Stay at the hostel.

The road is waiting.
Go. by @hostelgeeks

I backpacked Central America and honestly… I wish somebody had told me this before.

🤠 Comment GUATEMALA HOSTELS and I’ll send you my full Central America backpacking itinerary with maps, transport, costs, and hostels.

🥑 Save this reel if you’re planning Central America. This will make your trip so much easier.

Backpacking Central America is incredible. But the difference between a chaotic trip and an amazing one often comes down to a few simple decisions.

🛏 Enjoy staying on the hostel trail.
Seriously. Don’t overcomplicate it trying to be “different.” The hostel route exists for a reason. Better transport connections, easier to meet people, more traveler info, better atmosphere. Your days become smoother instantly.

✅ Hostelz App — compares the same dorm on Booking.com and Hostelworld side by side so you can quickly find the best hostel without overpaying.

🚶 Enjoy doing the free walking tour in Antigua.
This ended up being one of the highlights of my entire trip. You understand the city way better, meet other travelers immediately, and it even included a local chicken bus ride. Do it early in your stay.

If you want the exact tour I did, comment GUATEMALA HOSTELs, I’ll send it over

🚐 Enjoy not figuring out transport from scratch every time.
This region can become exhausting if you constantly research shuttles, border crossings, and routes while traveling. That’s why I built my full itinerary with the exact route, transport connections, maps, and budget breakdown.

💸 Enjoy knowing roughly what things should cost.
One of the hardest parts in Central America is not knowing if you’re overpaying. Tours, shuttles, accommodation… prices vary constantly. Having a rough idea before arriving helps a lot.

🐢 Enjoy slowing down instead of speedrunning countries.
People try to “complete” Central America too fast. Biggest mistake. Some places deserve extra days. The best moments usually happen when you stop rushing.

🤝 Enjoy how social this route is.
This is one of the easiest regions in the world to meet people while backpacking. Hostels, shuttles, walking tours, volcano hikes… conversations happen naturally by @hostelgeeks

No coordinating schedules.
No waiting for someone else to be available.
No 47-message group chat trying to agree on dates.

Sometimes the best solo trips start with:

“Why not?”

Book the flight.
Figure out the rest later.

Some of the best travel stories were never planned six months in advance.

They started with a little spontaneity.
