So I was in a Burger King and I asked the employees if I could take this picture and use it as a piece of Instagram Art and they didn’t know what to say so I took the picture ordered a burger and soda and sat down, so here is this picture taken by me September 20th 2026 At a Local Burger King in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada.

Most notably, this is the old school early 2000’s - 2015 style of Burger King. Also, should note that the uneven ceiling tiles have been probably not taken down in many years, if not the buildings history 🙈

The Walk-Up Refill Fountain Drink Station quite amused me, as the ice still poured out and the fizz brought up with top carbonation.

I was the only customer sitting, eating my meal and filling my soda as many times as I could, for all we know this machine may not be here much like all the others.

It’s always a sad day when Classic Burger Joints pivot to the new trendy Kiosk and No-Refill Stations, the greyish tint that eludes us from the original days of Fast-Food.🔥 by @hostility_and_nihility

My friend Sean comes by his enthusiasm for songs honestly, being a second generation song and dance man originally from the Durham Region of southern Ontario. The songs he fancies are the ones where music and words come together like a spring run-off. Dirty snow melt as the weepings of another season into the watershed. The usual detritus is there - fiddle, guitar, bass, drums - and nature’s tradition is no less appreciable than in a northern city like Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada - Burnsy’s adopted home - where the rivers Red & Assiniboine meet.
I can think of at least a few of these songs and their genesis amidst rivers like the Bow, Fraser and the Oldman, where as young men we wrote and served the songs to audiences there and sometimes not.
And sometimes enjoying the support of what felt like a home-ice advantage crowd, while others enduring the wrath that an away team will often suffer. And we learned a lot about each other and a lot about ourselves.
The rivers will soon freeze up again as they do in Canadian winters.
But it won’t be long until the richness of the spring run-off begins to leach. Our musical traditions are enriched by a catchment that grows with every year and every generation. Better Off In Time of course we are - and if the sounds here are familar I’ll be glad to know it! But for now a quiet cadence as the next kid starts learning the steel guitar or the fiddle and discovering the hallmark records of the genre.
