✨EMPLOYER PARTNER SPOTLIGHT✨

Great employer partnerships create opportunities that change lives. We're proud to partner with @gage.and.tollner, whose commitment to investing in talent is helping New Yorkers build lasting careers in the food industry.

After joining Hot Bread Kitchen's First Course NYC program, Aurea found her place in the kitchen at Gage & Tollner. Since then, she's earned a raise, trained across multiple stations, and is working toward her goal of becoming the restaurant's first female broil chef.

Together with partners like Gage & Tollner, we're building stronger career pathways, expanding access to quality jobs, and helping restaurants thrive with skilled, supported talent.

⭐️We're honored that Hot Bread Kitchen's Management Training Institute (MTI) has been recognized as a winner of @FastCompany's World Changing Ideas Awards!

MTI was born from a key insight: great managers create great workplaces. In partnership with restaurant employers, hospitality leaders, and HR professionals, we created MTI to help emerging managers build the leadership skills needed to advance their careers and earn a true living wage, while strengthening workplace culture and performance.

Thank you @FastCompany, for recognizing this work and the importance of investing in the next generation of food industry leaders!

As we launch our third cohort next month, we're grateful to all of our partners and all the participants who made this program possible! 👏

You can’t take food and climate action without dedicated food service workers.

Yesterday, the Mayor’s Office of Food Policy and the NYC Health Department celebrated our City workers, culinary and climate heroes supporting our health and the health of the planet with every nutritious, delicious, and culturally relevant meal they prepare.

City staff, culinary institutions, researchers, and partners across the food system came together at Hot Bread Kitchen. Hot Bread Kitchen creates economic opportunity through culinary job skills training, food entrepreneurship, and an ecosystem of support for individuals who face barriers to meaningful careers. Last year, they supported over 700 New Yorkers as they launched their careers and businesses in the food industry.

At a culinary training led by The Teaching Kitchen at Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, our staff and chefs created beet and butternut squash hummus, pastel azteca, Moroccan chickpea stew, and black bean brownies — dishes that taste good and are good for people and the planet. The fruits (and veggies, and beans) of their labor were then enjoyed at the Power of the Public Plate, where speakers shared strategies to buy more healthy and climate-friendly foods, like beans, peas, and lentils, support our regional economy, and uplift the cooks who are feeding New Yorkers and fueling a sustainable transformation of our food system.

Thank you to everyone who joined us! by @hotbreadkitchen

At Convene, hospitality extends beyond our spaces. It also lives in how we invest in our people. We’re proud to partner with Hot Bread Kitchen, an organization creating economic opportunity through free culinary job training, small business support, and an ecosystem designed for individuals facing barriers to meaningful careers.

Their Management Training Institute (MTI) is an invite-only program for emerging managers and high‑potential employees. Participants work full-time while completing an eight‑week leadership curriculum, with a commitment from their employer to provide a promotion or raise upon graduation.

Earlier this week, our very own Senior Director of F&B, Ryan Gallagher, joined MTI as a guest speaker, sharing his experience transitioning from peer to manager. He offered candid advice, real‑world stories, and the values that guide his leadership.

We’re grateful for partners like Hot Bread Kitchen who help shape the future of hospitality, create opportunities to elevate team members, and lead this genuinely life-changing program.

🍎 We were honored to participate in the 5th annual @annesaxelbylegacyfund benefit at Chelsea Market!

Our Lead Culinary Fundamentals Instructor, Chef Charlene, and her team served up bite-sized Apple Charlenes—our golden challah rolls filled with apple butter and topped with crème anglaise. 🍏✨

It was a joy to gather alongside incredible New York City restaurants, chefs, guests, and supporters who share our passion for building a more inclusive and sustainable food system.

Thank you to the @annesaxelbylegacyfund for bringing this wonderful community together and for continuing Anne’s legacy of supporting the people, makers, and organizations who make our food system so special. taken in Chelsea Market by @hotbreadkitchen

🍪We welcomed the team behind @makejustone to our Culinary Fundamentals cohort!

Founder Emily gave our members a behind the scenes look at building Just One, her single-serve cookie company—from starting the business to bringing a product to market. Our members sampled both cookie flavors and even got a sneak peek at a brand-new product in development! 🤫

Just One is truly a family business: Emily and her mom hand-pack every order in Seattle, while her brother and fiancé lead sales here in New York. Our members were inspired by their story and entrepreneurship journey.

Giving back is also baked into their business model. ❤️ We’re thrilled to welcome @makejustone as a new Hot Bread Kitchen partner, with 5% of sales donated to support our work.

Thank you to Emily and the Just One team for sharing your story, treats, and commitment to Hot Bread Kitchen Breadwinners! taken in Chelsea Market by @hotbreadkitchen
