The pinafore I made last fall is probably my most worn garment to date, I live in it from fall to spring so I decided to make another one! This time in a delicious wool suiting with a twill weave, and a lightweight tightly woven wool for the lining. Surprising no one 😅, I went with plaid and moody/earthy tones so I can wear it with my cool toned sweaters. Speaking of which, I finally finished the cashmere sweater I started a few weeks ago at the movies. You can't tell but it has 4 sleeves because I goofed and knitted the sleeves using the wrong needles and had to reknit both 🥲.I love this cozy handmade outfit, down to the wooly leggings, it came out exactly how I pictured it and it makes me so happy! And it was a joy to pattern match this plaid (seriously, what seams? The moment I saw the #vitacardigan in @susancrawfordvintage's book Echoes I immediately knew that I needed to knit it right away!I had never made anything steeked OR all over colourwork before, had never made a button band, or button holes...and I am so happy I conquered my anxiety and knitted it anyway.There's a lot of grief in this sweater as it carried me through heartbreaking loss. And there's also a lot of love and stillness and gratitude woven in every stitch.I am about to *LIVE* in this gorgeous sweater this fall 🍂 🥰! by @hotpurlsummer

I received a beautiful canvas tote that I want to cover in embroidery and cross stitch patches. This is the first of many patches.It's been fun working on it, my daughters have been helping and asking to see her every morning to see how she's progressing. She's nearly done, how adorable is she?!This is a vintage pattern from a crafting magazine published in 2002, it's no longer in print but you can still find some copies on eBay or Etsy. This mermaid is one of three, and I changed the color key to match my skin tone and give her purple hair and a beautiful indigo tail. l made my first jumpsuit 🥹!I've had the Jesse Jumpsuit pattern for a couple of years, I bought it before I knew how to sew pants, or install a zipper fly...but I always knew I’d eventually sew this jumpsuit! Overall, I am really happy with the fit, it is sooo comfortable, I have full range of movement in this baby (receipts enclosed 😅)!I can't wait to make several more!As a plus size sewist, I of course had to make some modifications for a better fit (as I often do). I chose to work with size 24 and did a 2” full bust adjustment (even though technically the finished circumference would've fit me, it would have gaped at the front and pulled down at the shoulder seams). The sleeve pattern wouldn't have fit at all so I added 2” there too (1” to hit my bicep measurement, and 1” for comfort). Finally, I added about 2” of width to the back leg pattern (only between high hip and knee) for more room in the bum area.The instructions have you measure your Body Length and calculate how much to add/remove from the pattern pieces in order to optimize fit. However, because of my bust projection that measurement put me way out of the chart range (see stories/highlights). So I decided to maintain the full length of the pattern, assemble the jumpsuit, THEN alter the jumpsuit through the bodice until I got the fit I wanted. I am pretty pleased with the outcome!The fabric is an amazing 100% linen canvas from FabricMart, I wrote all about it in a blog post (linked in stories!). Today I received a couple of patterns in the mail and when I opened the package my daughter said that they all looked stylish, then followed it with "I wish one of them looked like me."Say less, babygirl. I asked her which one she liked most and we added some beautiful curls and frizz, followed by some color and undertones, then we plumped the features to match hers and voilà, we now have an aunty in the mix! Just because I am used to seeing it the way it always was doesn't mean she has to! Me Made May, day 8th.I am wearing another tried and true dress pattern: the Garden dress! I have 3 of them and maybe 4 blouses. They're a lot of very satisfying work! Me Made May, day 6:And surprise surprise, it's another Willow dress 😅. I think I have 5 or 6 of them so buckle up! They're definitely my go-to uniform, they're just so easy to wear! Me Made May, day 5!Today was a WFH day, so I definitely did not wear this outfit! But I did have to take final pictures of the Mei Top that I just helped test! It's such a pretty and intentional pattern, it was so cool to test it after following Wendy's design process! 11 cup sizes (🤯), full size range, several views and closure options... it's a banger! Anyway, don't twirl with a heavy laptop bag on your shoulder because physics is a hater 😅.This dress started off as a #zwgathereddress (by Birgitta Helmersson) a couple of years ago but then I fell in love with the Willow dress pattern and had to disassemble the bodice immediately! Me Made May, Day 3!Another cozy "Mailbox Day"!I tried to resist the urge to Millennial Tuck my sweater but one can only try. And fail.Top: I am wearing a sweater that I knit YEARS ago and just now realizing that it still has a live stitch being held in place by luck and a rusty stitch marker. I've worn it so many times, washed it several times, and somehow never noticed until today 😂.Bottom: my second pair of rigid denim jeans! It's so comfy, no gaping at the back (🤌🏾🥹), and all the Y2K vibes! I omitted the belt loops because I don't plan to wear these with a belt. I need rivets but haven't had any luck finding good quality ones (the ones I used on my first pair of jeans keep falling off 🥴.
