HŌTUA ‘ORI - 2nd Place Group Mehura @ ‘Ori Tahiti Las Vegas 2026
“Te Mārama O Te ‘Āva’e” 🌙✨
.
This performance & this song means so much to each & every one of us dancers up there. For myself, I was going through one of the toughest year last year. If I could give 2025 me a hug & show her where I am now & how I found a piece of my spark back…I would show her THIS video. ‘Ori is more than just dance…IT HEALS, IT CONNECTS, IT’S SELF-EXPRESSION & SELF-LOVE.
.
“…even in our darkest moments, there is always light.” ✨
.
Fun fact: with some help from our amazing musicians & friends from Tahiti…my beautiful ra’atira composed this song! 🙌🏽

This past weekend Hōtua ‘Ori participated in their first large group competition at Te Fa’a Nō Te ‘Ori. Over the course of 4 months, our group faced many challenges, and we have grown and strengthened our unity as a group from this experience. Our musicians and dancers performed with heartfelt dedication making the audience feel their mana.

Our theme was Te Hinapa’arae, which encompasses different layers of meaning; our group focused on genealogy and the 7 levels of lineage that precede the emergence of a new generation, thus highlighting the cyclical nature of genealogy, time, and life.

The success of this endeavor was made possible by the contributions of many individuals. Māuruuru roa to Vairea & Ryan Samn @tanerai_i_nia for their invaluable guidance & research and for your support, and Ty @_teaitu_ as well, for which we are deeply grateful.

Our heartfelt thank you goes out to our musicians. @kimmalia @iamjduff @gdotbrenner thank you for your beautiful voices. Your singing along with all of the instruments together was mesmerizing. ✨

Further thanks goes out to Chrissy, Rozelle, Zach, Olivia & Romel for helping make our costume vision come to life. Special thanks to all those that contributed in various capacities to this project. Finally, we commend our dancers for their hard work, commitment, patience and sacrifices. We ❤️ you!

Māuruuru roa @tefaanoteori for this opportunity.

What an extraordinary weekend! I’m still soaring on cloud nine, filled with gratitude and joy. We opened our hearts and shared our mana through every movement & melody, and the audience could feel our powerful connection. Our performance brought together dancers of different ages and experience levels, and I am beyond proud of every single one of you!

Māuruuru roa to Poemoana Teriinohorai, Lyntina Perry and Tehani for your invaluable help with the language. Your guidance is greatly appreciated. 🙏🏼Thank you for sharing your culture with us. @poemoana_tahitian_dance_expert @kautaka.inc @hani__tahiti

A heartfelt thank you to Romel for being our headpiece savior ensuring our costume pieces are secure. Thank you AJ, Elaine, Janice, Diana, Keoni, my wife Tina, the Cortez family, and everyone else who helped bring this project to life. Every rehearsal, sacrifice, word of encouragement, and act of support helped carry us to that stage. Your time, energy, and love meant more than I can express, and I am deeply grateful!

Most of all, THANK YOU to Kim and Chaz for your incredible hard work bringing the vocals and music together. Thank you to my longtime friends Joe and Kim for always being down to share your beautiful voices with the world, alongside with the soulful voice of Obed. Your harmonies were beautiful and gave our piece such warmth and power.

And thank you, Brandon, Willy, Darryl, Leo, Jason, and Kaonohi for being the soul and heartbeat of our piece. Your rhythm and spirit gave the performance its pulse and helped make it unforgettable.

Grateful for the families and friends that came out to cheer us on. Thank you! 💕

Congratulations, Hōtua ‘Ori, on winning 2nd place 🥈 at ‘Ori Tahiti Las Vegas! This is an amazing accomplishment and a beautiful reflection of the passion, unity, and mana we shared. We love and appreciate you all so much! by @hotuaori

Once again, ‘Ori Tahiti has filled this heart of mine with so much passion, light, & gratitude. 10 years away from ‘ori, but this weekend - I made my comeback w/ my @hotuaori fam at ‘Ori Tahiti Las Vegas 2026. 🌙✨
.
The second I stepped on stage - I knew I was meant to be there. Every second truly felt magical. I felt so connected to my ‘ori sisters, the musicians, the song, & the audience. I’m so grateful I got to experience this again! I love it ALL — the weekly rehearsals, the sweat, the connections, & overall just immersing myself in ‘ori!
.
A huge MĀURUURU to @chatiry for this opportunity!! & to every single person who was a part of this project! I miss you all sooo much already 😭💜
.
Lastly, thank you Hina 🌙✨ lol You’re truly THAT gurl.

My beautiful girl!! I’m so happy you had the courage to perform on that stage, knowing you were competing alongside some of the best dancers. I saw how you poured your heart into this song. With every move, you told the story and showed us who you truly are—a dancer, a performer, and the same little girl who has loved dancing since she was 5 years old.

My girl, your star truly shined so bright that night. ✨ I’m so proud of all the hard work and sacrifices you made to get to that stage, and of course, all the love and effort you put into your costume.

Watching you perform filled my heart with so much pride. I’ll forever be your #1 fan. 💖
