Soaking up every. last. drop. of. summer. And more heeling. Because heeling’s my favorite. Cash is not neglected. He’s happily cleaning up shrapnel and getting in the way.

It’s been 3 years. Yet it still feels like yesterday. We still carry the loss everyday, but it becomes more of a dull ache than a sharp pain. When someone is grieving their world stops but everyone else keeps moving on. Life keeps moving on. You get stuck in a state of purgatory where you are just existing and watching everyone pass you by. At some point you realize you stopped living. If I’ve learned anything is that time is not guaranteed. You can work hard your whole life, plan to do all the things when you retire, save up for that rainy day. What happens when life decides to take you out before that happens? Was it worth it, all the time spent working a job you hate, being away from your family, never having time or energy to do the things you want. “Within reason” live now. I got the dog, I moved, I changed jobs, I lost my filter. I’m unapologetically trying to live my authentic life. It is a journey, it is messy, and we are figuring it out. I have no idea if he would be proud or think I’m nuts. But he changed my life and I miss him everyday. by @house.of.bark

Just over halfway of the gardening project. Nothing a little blood, sweat, tears, and free hard labour from anyone who visits can’t solve. @robertkoudys enjoying his new #farmboy life. Featuring Cash who feels all photos are about him. by @house.of.bark

The happiest of birthdays to the world’s best dog! How this much time has passed is wild. As cringy as it sounds he is my ride or die. And a certified good boi. 💕 by @house.of.bark

Enduring 5th winter and entertaining the little man with some novelty items. Trying to do most things with my left hand is the current struggle as a 3 year old probably has more coordination. But we modify the things so we can keep doing the things.

The easiest hellos are often the hardest goodbyes. Flyte came to our family at a time when healing was needed. He was a wild little man who took over our worlds. He inspired the future of dogs I would get and my interest in training. Small but mighty, he was the boss of everyone and in charge of everything. The world really did revolve around him. He was with us through some of the worst events of our lives. We will cherish all the love, laughs and stolen butter. Even though our time together was cut short we are so thankful he was apart of our family. He was the bestest boy and we will miss him so much. The worst part about owning them is when you have to say goodbye. He will now be reunited with his favorite human who I am sure was waiting with open arms.
