Wondering if a Lilongwe supper club ticket is really worth MWK 150,000? Here’s the honest answer.

You arrive, get settled, and your drink’s already poured before you’re in your seat. From there: a starter, a family-style main, dessert, 13 dishes in total, some finished on fire right at the table.

The pace is the point. You’re meant to settle. You’re meant to wait. You’re meant to talk, if you want to.

Could 150,000 get you five separate dinners instead? Probably. But you’d be comparing two different things, five nights you’ll forget by December, or one you actually remember.

We want you to leave feeling like 150,000 was even little.

We paired chicken livers with beer. Not champagne.

On purpose.

Our first two dinners drew a mostly female crowd, and champagne was always the easy favorite. Grounded is a bigger table, so the pairings got more thought, not less, beer got the same treatment champagne did.

“What made the chicken livers so tasty was pairing it with the local beer, something very rare. I loved it,” one guest told us. Another wasn’t even a fan of liver going in: “I don’t usually eat liver. I don’t even like liver. But I really enjoyed it today.”
