the art house, bc, 2025

for most of my paintings i’ve depended on a single reference photo as the foundation for my colourful abstraction process. i wanted to push my technique further because i felt there wasn’t a singular, fixed truth about this beautiful, lively and complex structure. i collaged multiple angles of the same subject to create an impossible visual space, capturing the kaleidoscopic experience i felt when i initially entered the “art house”. the final painting is filled with imagined connections and contradictory perceptions.

i hope to explore more painterly collage techniques in the future because i had fun during every minute of the process! by @how.2disintegrate
