🌟 October Employee Spotlight: Sherry Stephens! 🌟

This month, we’re excited to recognize Sherry Stephens, who has been part of the Howard Bentley family for 16 years! ❤️

Sherry serves as an Accountant, and her journey with us began when Wayne gave her a call after hearing she was looking for a job. He invited her in for an interview, she said yes, and the rest is history!

When asked what she loves most about working at Howard Bentley, Sherry says it’s the family atmosphere. She appreciates how friendly and caring her coworkers are and how our owners genuinely care for their employees and show their appreciation in so many thoughtful ways.

🛼 Fun Fact: Sherry loves to roller skate and still has her trusty skates from the 1980s! She also enjoys slalom water skiing (skiing on one ski!) and has even tried barefoot water skiing, although she admits that wasn’t her favorite! 😂

Sherry, thank you for 16 wonderful years of dedication and for being such a valued part of our Howard Bentley family! We’re so thankful for you! ❤️👏 by @howardbentleyal

Some stories are worth telling, and Oscar Hernandez’s story is one of them.

Oscar has been part of the Howard Bentley family for a combined 20 years since 2005, but his path here started long before that.

After high school, he moved from Texas to Alabama, working in the chicken industry while picking up a part-time job selling cars. That quickly turned into a full-time career in automotive working in sales, finance, and even travel car sales along the way.

But through it all, Oscar had one goal:
“To work at Howard Bentley one day.” 🥹
When that opportunity finally came, it didn’t go how he expected...

He stopped by to put in an application, wearing sweatpants and a sweatshirt and ended up in a conversation with Wayne Bentley. Oscar still laughs about how embarrassed he was, but what stood out that day wasn’t what he was wearing; it was who he was.

Oscar started in sales in 2014, then moved into Finance in 2016, where he spent nearly 10 years taking care of customers and building strong relationships. Earlier this year, he decided to embrace a new challenge and stepped into the Sales Manager position, a move that truly reflects his drive to keep learning and growing.

But beyond his impressive career, what truly sets Oscar apart is who he is as a person, a devoted husband to Rocio, and a proud father to Michael and Camilla.

We asked Oscar a few questions, and here’s what he had to say:

💬 What are you most excited about in your new role?
“Learning new things and a different side of the business and getting to interact more with our salespeople.”

💬 What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned on your journey?
“Never take things for granted. Always see the positive side of things, there’s always something new to learn every day.”

💬 What advice do you have for someone just starting in the car business?
“Be willing to learn. The more you know, the more you’ll enjoy what you do.”

💬 What’s your favorite thing to do with your family?
“Church on Sundays, family vacations, and weekend cookouts.”

Oscar, we’re so glad you walked through our doors that day. Here’s to many more years ahead! 🙌 taken in Howard Bentley Buick GMC by @howardbentleyal

What a meaningful Day of Caring! 💙

We kicked off the day at the annual @unitedwayofmarshallcounty Day of Caring Breakfast, and our team continued the spirit of giving throughout the day! Everyone at Howard Bentley wore their Day of Caring shirts and participated in Casual Day to show our support.

We were also grateful for the opportunity to give back by donating office and cleaning supplies to United Way of Marshall County, along with hygiene items and gas cards to @cajaofmarshall. 🫶

And this was just one small part of the many projects happening across Marshall County today, with businesses and organizations coming together to serve our community!

It’s been a great, meaningful, and blessing-filled day. We’re thankful to be a small part of something that makes such a big difference in Marshall County. We already can’t wait for next year! 💙 taken in Howard Bentley Buick GMC by @howardbentleyal

Community investment & facility revenue are reducing registration costs for families in Alabama.

That’s the model behind a new initiative at SFC-managed @sandmountainpark_, where youth sports registration is dropping to $25 per child.

Through a partnership with @howardbentleyal, eight recreation sports will be offered at the reduced rate, while Miracle League registration remains completely free.

At The Sports Facilities Companies, we believe facilities can be powerful platforms for expanding access to sports. Sand Mountain is showing what that can look like in practice and creating a model other communities across the country can replicate.
