Adventurer. Exploring Florida’s theme parks, beaches, and everything in between. Hang-on, it’s going to be a wild ride.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Figure it’s about time to reintroduce myself.

In 2020, I started on a health journey that I never dreamed of. I was hospitalized with a severe hip infection that ended up threatening my life not once but three times.

Surgeons removed 2.5” from my leg trying to save my life and I was told I would live the remainder of my life in a wheelchair. They also could not estimate how much time I had left.

Within a few months I was back in the hospital in Tampa, FL and was told that the medicine that was supposed to prolong my life had destroyed my liver and I would not leave the hospital without a new liver.

God showed up in a big way delivering a liver in a miraculous 15 hours. Then He started showing out. The liver transplant was followed by a complete rebuild of my left hip.

Then all bets were off. One of my first questions post-surgery was, “When can I ride roller coasters?”

Our theme parks became my rehab room. It was in a park that I got my steps in bringing me out of the chair onto crutches to a cane and finally no device at all. It was in a park that I was finally able to walk with my wife while holding her hand again because before it had taken both of my hands just to be able to walk.

Every March 10 you will find me in one of the parks, celebrating my Liverversary. And on April 9, 2027, you will find us in the parks running our first RunDisney 5K.

If you see me out there, make sure to stop me. I love sharing my story.

Looks like this duo was trying to turn MNSSHP into a Very Merry Unbirthday Party. Their Meet & Greet can be found outside the Mad Tea Party ride on party nights. #mnsshp #aliceinwonderland #madteaparty #disneyaddict #disneycharactermeetandgreet taken in Magic Kingdom by @howardshipleyauthor

Road to a Disney 5K

A little progress from the start of the week, I’ll take it.

Starting to sink into a rhythm of running 3 days and walking the other days with my resistance training spaced out accordingly.

I know the intelligent thing to do is also schedule a rest day in there, but it just doesn’t feel right and I haven’t been able to convince myself of that yet.

It’s almost like a Forrest Gump syndrome. I was trapped in a wheelchair for so long, I just feel like I should be moving not resting.

I know the goal is in sight and I’m more confident everyday of reaching it.

When your Queen commands, err.…, I mean asks you to carry her ears, you obviously comply.

What’s your take?

I go to HHN for the scare zones. I know Fortnightmares was the most controversial scare zone this year.

Did you like it or hate it?
