Last night I attended the Annual Moth Ball hosted by the Powder Valley Nature Conservation Center! It was so much fun 🤩 I came dressed as the Grapeleaf Skeletonzier Moth! Before these moths reach their final form, their caterpillars will eat the leaves of plants and leave their vascular systems behind, ultimately turning them into leaf skeletons (hence the name). I made the artistic decision to wear my lacy cardigan over my outfit to represent a skeletonized leaf and I really love how the fit turned out.

When I first arrived, the first thing I saw was the ice cream truck! Nothing gets me excited about an event like ice cream 🔥

These were all of the prizes that could be won over the course of the evening. There was a scavenger hunt to find all 6 Luna moths hidden throughout the event, a “Regal Moth” crowning ceremony, and a Moth Kahoot that you could win! I didn’t win anything this time but that’s ok, because I did learn a lot and had a lot of fun!

The mocktails were SOOOOO GOOD. The Elderflower one tasted like it actually had alcohol in it which was shocking to me but it was still delicious!!! The sassafras root beer was my favorite, I ended up going back for seconds of that one haha

When I was getting ready to go to the event I was a little bummed out I didn’t have any antennae to complete my outfit. But, the universe always provides!! When I got there, there was a craft room where you could make antennae, you could stamp a bandana, or you could make a native seed bomb. I just did the antennae this time, but next time I want to try the other crafts, too.

They had everyone decorate a moth to “sign” the guestbook with. This was my moth!

Everyone’s moths were really starting to come together about half way through the event. Can you spot my moth?

My favorite part of the event was the moth sheet. The guy in the blue shirt stood there all night and answered everyone’s questions about the different kinds of insects on the sheet. We had to hike out there in the dark which was honestly really fun. I learned a lot about parasitic wasps.

I got to see breaking benjamin and chevelle with my bestie in KC last night 🤩 it was unreal, we had THE best time and i will remember this forever 🙂‍↕️ @cinnotcyd_ thank you for coming with me on the 8 hour round trip adventure we just had haha it was sooo cool 🥹 i took tons of video but i am literally screaming and dancing so they videos did not turn out great so i shall spare yall all of that by @howdy_g
