In a world where the majority of art we perceive is mediated digitally, what does it even mean to create tangible pieces?
Commercial success? Online notariety? Clutter?
.
For me, it is the deep sense of play, experiementation, self satisfaction, and participation in community - as a starting point.
.
I want to give a huge shoutout of grattitude to @kernmyrtle for inviting me (for the 2nd year in a row) to create a fiber piece to be a part of their annual installation for Miami Art Week. It was to be a piece of advice that will ultimately be sacrificed on the alter of street art - a protest, you could say, to some of the snobbery prevalent in the art world.
In the process of creation, I was able to ask myself the aforementioned questions - to really consider "what is the point?" - as well as grow in my own weaving techniques and horizions. I am honored to be among this wide array of yarn weirdos from around the world that @kernmyrtle compiled to give our Best Advice.

After 3.5 days on the street, somebody decided "the time is now" and yoinked my little woven statement. Who knows where it went, but I am happy to let the art breathe in the light of day and do what it will do.

Come visit me today at Applefest in Charlevoix! Booth 19!
There are a bunch of fresh ecoprints here for y'all to parouse! Not to mention my woven goods, local yarn, natural dye kits, and hand pressed pins

I will still be here today (Saturday) 10a-6p and tomorrow (Sunday) 10a-4p.
There are soooo many lovely vendors, and the main street is packed with local fruit orchards!

My piece Golden Hour is a woven tapestry of my late goat Edgar's mohair with silk scrap supplemental weft all dyed in applewood from my yard 💛

Happy Autumn Equinox!

Here is some natural beauty captured since the summer solstice 🌞🌚

The shirt I am wearing in the first photo I bought from @awanya_designs at Blissfest, skirt is locally made vintage by Spiral, sunglasses from Depop, boots have always been with me it seems - somebody gave them to me? Birdbath from my mom.
Luna cracks me up here and really transforms the composition into a classic.

Ecoprinting - a few highlights-Saturday September 12th Jasmine shared her vast wealth of expertise in this very fun eco printing class. The day was balmy, sun, rain and moody clouds all passed over the farm through the afternoon. The process proved to very therapeutic, slow paced in that meditative kind of way, and spontaneous joy was sprouted when the final project results were revealed. keep up with Wagbo for future class dates! by @howlattheloom

Golden Hour: a new tapestry for Adoration of Light, opening this week at @astoriavisualarts!
A show centered around yellow natural dye compiled and curated by the wonderful Iris of @dreambird.studio 💛
.
This tapestry was woven out of mohair yarn from my late pygora goat Edgar that I had spun at @rovenkoswindyacres as well as silk strips - both dyed in applewood prunings from my yard this spring. I acheived a gradation of shades by utilizing my dye exhaust baths for lighter tones.
.
I sent this piece off in the mail last week as soon as she was done, and even forgot to stitch on my signature! Oopsie.
.
I am SO EXCITED to see this show come together and am extremely honored to be included among such talented and creative people! It has been a joy getting to know the other artists @dreambird.studio brought together along the way - she knows how to pick 'em!

Natural Dye in a Jar at @charlevoixcircle of Arts!

I orginally developed this class to teach in a space with limited access to water, but have found it is a relatively quick and fun way to introduce people to natural dyes!
Everybody goes home with a new pet (or homework, depending on how you look at it), so the final results are a slow reveal ✨️

These @green_tailor scrunchies were super fun to dye!
It has honestly been quite a while since I had done small batching with natural dyes, so it felt very good to use some of these small quantities of dye material I have in my stash. And they created such a wonderful gradation of color!
