To the South Africans building new lives across the UK: Happy Heritage Day! 🇿🇦🌍

Being far from home on days like today can be tough, but it’s also a beautiful reminder of how strong our community is. We bring our warmth, our humour, and our unbeatable spirit with us, turning every corner of the UK into a little piece of Mzansi.

Celebrate your roots today. Speak your mother tongue, play your favourite local tracks have a braai, and reach out to the Saffas around you. We are stronger together. (Link in bio to find your local South African community on the Howzit app!) by @howzitapp

Moving countries is challenging enough without realizing that "pants" means underwear and your concept of time is entirely incompatible with British culture. 🇿🇦🇬🇧

If you are one of the many South Africans in the UK currently suffering from severe linguistic exhaustion, we highly recommend taking a break. You can spend the next six months trying to convince your new colleagues that a robot is just a traffic light, or you can simply join the Saffa community on the Howzit app and converse with people who actually understand you.

We cannot teach you all the local British slang, but we can connect you with a South African expat network that knows exactly what you mean when you say you will do something "now now".

Hit the link in our bio to download the app and make UK expat life a little less confusing. 📲

Apologies in advance to anyone attempting to hold a normal conversation with a South African in the UK today. We will be bringing this up in every morning meeting, at every braai, and in every pub queue for the foreseeable future. The greatest rivalry in rugby, settled exactly as it should be. Our resting heart rates may never recover, but the bragging rights are forever.

The fact that we have an emoji for a pager and a floppy disk, but still nothing for boerewors, is a global injustice.

Until the tech giants sort out their priorities, you’ll just have to settle for the real thing. Stop sending sad chicken leg emojis and use the Howzit app to find local South African butchers and weekend braais.

Hit the link in our bio to find your community (and your weekend boerie). 🇿🇦🇬🇧

Trying to explain our vocabulary to the British public is a terribly exhausting endeavour, isn't it? 🇿🇦🇬🇧☕️

If you’re tired of trying to translate the emotional depth of a "lekker braai" into the Queen's English, it might be time to take a break. Surround yourself with people who instinctively know that "lekker" means everything from "this biltong is top-tier" to "I survived the M25 traffic."

Stop translating and start connecting. Hit the link in our bio to find your local South African community on the Howzit app today.
