There’s an agency that doesn’t officially exist. It’s responsible for all those small impossible things that keep the world running roughly on schedule - the near-misses, the strange coincidences, the just-in-times. Somewhere in there, a file has gone missing, and one agent, working off the books, has just one evening to put it right before everything unravels.

Free Musical workshops opportunity

Olive the musical – 2025

Last year Activate, alongside @hackney_shed we created an original musical in 4 days with 30 young people and volunteers documenting the travels of one of our Activate women Olive Malvery. Singer, undercover journalist, philanthropist and campaigner, Olive truly was an incredible force .

Focusing in on the year 1903 and Hoxton Halls Girls Guild for good life ,we looked at how she travelled the world talking about the community work that Hoxton Hall was doing around the lives of working women.

We discovered how her work still resonates today and even came up with our own political bills including :

Today, on Windrush Day, we celebrate the extraordinary legacy of the Windrush Generation and the lasting impact they have had on our communities, culture and country.

We’re also taking a moment to look back with pride at our young people’s performance of *Windrush Generations* as part of the National Theatre Connections Festival in 2024. Through their creativity, passion and commitment, they honoured the stories of resilience, courage and hope that continue to shape our world today.

It was a powerful reminder that these stories belong not only to the past, but to the present and the future. By sharing them on stage, our young people became part of carrying this legacy forward for the next generation.

Thank you to everyone who supported the production, and to our brilliant young performers for bringing these important stories to life.
