More CBG on the road starts with assured demand. GOBARdhan creates a structured demand framework for CBG by progressively increasing the mandatory blending obligation for CNG (Transport) and PNG (Domestic). 🌿

With the blending obligation moving from 3% in FY 2026–27 to 4% in FY 2027–28 and 5% from FY 2028–29 onwards, the initiative supports a stronger demand outlook for CBG and contributes to India’s transition towards cleaner and more sustainable energy.

From lab bench to real-world readiness: the true test of any battery innovation.

HPCL's indigenous sodium-ion battery programme spans the full development chain, from material development and cell engineering to performance validation and safety testing. The aim is a viable alternative to conventional lithium-ion systems.
Why sodium-ion? Sodium is abundant, which opens the way to cost-effective, scalable energy storage and less reliance on imported critical lithium minerals.

Starting from a novel cathode material, the team has built 10 Ah pouch cells and 1.2 Ah cylindrical (18650) cells. These have delivered 85% capacity retention over 900 cycles at 1C.

Scaling CBG capacity requires the right investment support. GOBARdhan provides capital assistance to make new CBG projects more viable, supporting eligible greenfield plant machinery as well as strengthening the supporting value chain. 🌱

With assistance of up to ₹2 crore/TPD for eligible greenfield CBG plant machinery and an additional ₹0.75 crore/TPD for eligible feedstock aggregation, organic manure processing and value addition, the initiative can help unlock greater investment and capacity in the CBG ecosystem.

Retrofit & Revamp Solutions: Unlocking Higher Recovery

The same process & commissioning expertise that built and sustains our Visakh unit is now available to operators running licensor-supplied or legacy PSA units elsewhere — a structured revamp pathway to unlock higher H₂ recovery, improved reliability, and reduced operating cost, without a full unit replacement.

Our 5-step engineering workflow: Data Audit (PFD/P&ID review, material balance, pressure trends) → Diagnosis (dynamic simulation, bottleneck & root-cause analysis) → Solution Design (adsorbent selection, PLC logic, valve/header sizing) → Shutdown Execution (safe, loop-checked implementation) → Startup (commissioning, PG testing, monitoring & optimization).

Revamp scope includes: adsorbent replacement, PLC modernization, combined adsorbent + cycle upgrades, valve/header modification, and additional equalization steps — targeting improved purity, higher recovery, stabilized tail-gas pressure, and reduced dependence on the original licensor.

Indigenous PLC Sequencing, Valve Control & Online Diagnostics

The "PLC-driven automation" cited as a pillar of our technology stack coordinates 30-100 automatic valves across time-based step sequencing, valve permissive & command-feedback validation, and real-time alarm handling.

Built-in online diagnostics track bed-pressure profiles against expected curves, step completion times, and permissive/alarm health — with additional trend monitoring for cycle time, bed utilization, and valve cycle counts, enabling predictive maintenance and sustained performance.

Designed, programmed, and supported entirely in India — proven in operating Mumbai & Visakh Refinery PSA units and readily deployable for new units, revamps, and upgrades, reducing dependence on foreign control system vendors.

As part of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026, dealers, supervisors and Customer Service Attendants (CSAs) across select outlets in the Nalgonda-1 Sales Area came together to promote cleanliness and responsible practices at HPCL retail outlets.

The initiative focused on spreading awareness about personal hygiene, proper waste management and maintaining clean, green surroundings. The “MY HPCL – MY PRIDE” message encouraged outlet teams to uphold cleanliness, take pride in their workplace and perform their duties with integrity.

The programme also reinforced the commitment to making outlets plastic-free, with more activities planned across the region in the spirit of Swachh Bharat and ahead of Gandhi Jayanti.
