🚨 Catch Sammy Swindell and Kaylee Bryson TONIGHT at the Chili Bowl Nationals Race of Champions!🚨

Stream it 📲 on @floracing- Kaylee was voted in as Most Popular Driver, and Sammy... Well. We don’t need to explain why he’s at the top of the list. We’ll be cheering both of them on!! 🏁

Now, back to our regularly scheduled article on the man himself:

Let’s rewind to the year 1971. Sammy Swindell grew up watching his father behind the wheel at many of their local Memphis, TN dirt tracks. He was 15 years old and his father was running a new car, meaning his old one was sitting there unused. We all know how this one goes. Sammy got his hands on it, they rushed to get him (and dad!) ready for the season and… he tanked his first night out there. But never fear, he fixed it all up for night two and went on to claim 6 victories his first month racing! He hasn’t stopped since. Since then, he debuted the NASCAR Winston Cup Series in the 1985 Atlanta Journal 500, won 394 World of Outlaw A Main races, and 3 World of Outlaw Championships (1981, 1982 and 1997). He’s also a 5 time winner of the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals, and has a prized silver 25th anniversary Driller up there next to his 5 gold ones. His record speaks for itself with his career successes!

2023 led him into Victory Lane a handful of times, with his most recent being Halloween Havoc weekend at the Deep South Speedway. Now, Sammy’s gearing up for the 2024 Chili Bowl- We’re looking forward to him bringing home another one of those coveted Drillers. If you’re in Tulsa, stop by and say hi! Sammy recently published his first book- Sammy! 50+ Years of Winning! Click the link in our bio to grab your copy! If you already own a copy, we’re sure he’d love to sign it for you 😉 Our very own David Ward will be floating around as well shaking hands and kissing babies, so say hi to him too if you see him! by @hplubricants

We hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday! 🎁 We will be closed Monday, December 25th for Christmas and will reopen Tuesday, December 26th at 8am. by @hplubricants

Racing for David Gravel began at the age of 6, in his home state of Connecticut. He picked up more than 50 wins before moving onto Micro Sprints for another 3 years, before settling into a full sized sprint car at the age of 16. In his first year with the United Racing Company alone, Gravel racked up 2 victories as the youngest winner in 60+ years as well as the coveted 360 Rookie of the Year award. It’s pretty safe to say that racing comes pretty naturally to DG, and that he was in it for the long haul!

Once in a 410, Gravel put in 3 years with the UNOH All Star Circuit and starting spending more time with the Outlaws. 2008 was his first race with them. 2011 saw his first Outlaw win, and in 2012 he split from the Circuit. He bounced between several different teams until 2020 before settling down with Big Game Motorsports. Talk about coming full circle with Tod Quiring and BGM- 10 years ago when he was still trying to break into the Sprint Car world, Gravel approached him about driving for him and got shot down. Tod was a primary sponsor for his car when he was with CJB, and that laid the groundwork for DG to finally sign on with Big Game Motorsports and the rest was history. Lucky for us (and them!), we’ve been partnered with Jason Johnson Racing, CJB Motorsports, and Big Game Motorsports as well as Huset’s Speedway for many years now. David himself joined the HPL fam back in 2015, and to say that we’re thrilled and blessed to be a part of his Sprint Car journey for so long is quite the understatement! So far in his career he’s grabbed 88 wins, led 2346 laps, and a whopping 241 heat wins, as well as 36 podium finishes in the 2023 season alone (that’s a Series high right there folks). Of the last 7 years, he’s finished 6 of those years in the top 3 final standings. He was the last driver to sign his name in the Devils Bowl Speedway book of winners, and ended the season second in points. He announced that he will be back in 2024 as a full time driver again, still chasing that Outlaw victory.

We know David Gravel not slowing down, and we’ll be cheering him on and supporting him every lap of the way! by @hplubricants

We love our small town of Manteno- Chamber of Commerce is huge on supporting small businesses and giving us the opportunity to showcase what we do!

Each year they allow us to choose a tree in the square representing us. We decorated our tree a few days ago, and last night was the annual tree lighting ceremony in town 🎄 What a magical evening!

Brayden Domont has racing in his blood- Dad Brian used to race and got Brayden in his first indoor go kart at the age of 8, where he met our plant manager David and his son. Fast forward a couple years and he had moved on to outdoor karting at Concept Haulers Motor Speedway.

Brian and Brayden visited our plant at David’s encouragement, and were sold after hearing about and seeing the specialty oils we produce for go karts- Check them out! They’ve been using our products ever since and have seen definite improvement. That’s what we strive for!

On the subject of improvement and striving for better, Brian noted that he greatly enjoys seeing that in Brayden. Winning is great, of course, but as we all know how life works. Watching him deal with the highs and lows of racing is just such an impressive thing for a young person. He and his friends will duke it out on the track and then either high five and hype each other up on a great race, or put their heads together discussing why they were unhappy and where to improve. Dad said it best: These are the skills that will get you through life, dealing with whatever gets thrown your way. We couldn’t agree more.

As for Brayden himself, he’s all about the competition and putting it all out there on the track! That thrill of hitting 60 miles an hour for the first time will always be a favorite memory of his, and we can only imagine that number will keep climbing. This kids got goals, and we know one day we’re going to see him racing around the country. His picks? Trackhouse Motorplex in Mooresville, NC and AMP Kart Racing in Dawsonville, GA. Both tracks are intense, and not for the faint of heart. Keep it up Brayden and we know we’ll be seeing you there! We’re behind ya, every lap of the way! by @hplubricants

With over 300 career wins since 2005 (38 in the 2023 season alone!), Ricky Thornton Jr’s list of accomplishments is quite long. For more than half of his life he’s been racing, starting at the age of 14 in the Factory Stock division and then moving onto the modifieds, where he was crowned Rookie of the Year and won his first mod track championship in 2007. For the next 10 years, he raced both modifieds and late model, snapping up his first SWDRA Late Models Championship in 2009. From 2011-2019 he focused on racing in the modified class, picking up a late model race occasionally before getting back into the full time swing of things again in 2020. 2015, 2016, and 2018 each saw a championship being brought home: the Dakota Modified Tour Championship, the IMCA Super Nationals Modified Championship, and the IMCA Super Nationals Late Model Championship respectively. Oh, and he got married and became a dad to two beautiful boys while winning all of those championships.

By 2020, Ricky had partnered up with SSI Motorsports (owned by Todd and Vickie Burns) and had been introduced to the Lucas Oil late model series, while still running modifieds. He won at Jackson Motorplex with the Outlaws and then again at Pittsburg Motor Speedway taking home the Pittsburgher 100 victory. But that still wasn’t enough! 2020 is when he made history- Ricky’s the only person to claim multiple Super Nationals titles in multiple divisions, snapping up both late model and modifieds 🏆 How’s THAT for climbing the ladder of success?

2023 has been a hell of a year for Ricky and his fam. Breaking records, over a million dollars 💰 in victories, and a happy, healthy family. What more could you ask for? He came out swinging (again) this year and has really showed the world what he and his team can do. We’re so proud of Ricky and his crew and are thrilled to call ourselves partners with him. It’s been 5 or 6 years since he’s started using our products and we still love watching him race. The race this weekend at Senoia has been cancelled, but we’re pumped to open next season at the Chili Bowl with him! 2024 is going to be another great year for RTJ. We’re calling it now 🏁 🏆 by @hplubricants
