i leave this state in 141 days, thank you to tennessee for treating me so good for 18 years. thank you to all my blood and chosen family for making my most important birthday so meaningful. it hurts to fall so deeply in love with a place right before you leave for however long it may be, but god does this moment feel good!

Happy #transgenderdayofvisibility !

The 31st of March is a day to celebrate all transgender people past, present and future. Being transgender is the best thing that’s ever happened to me. For me, being trans means being my most authentic and honest self. I credit my transgender-ness for making me the strong, beautiful woman I am and always will be - I am blessed to live a life surrounded by love and support, most notably my mother - You are my biggest fan and my best friend. I love you mom!

However, not every transgender teen is as fortunate as I am. We live in a world full of hate, where the concept of being trans is confusing, and that scares people. It scares people into shutting others down, and people who are scared tell queer folks to stay silent.
Though I am one person, I extend my hand to all queer folks scared to accept and authentically be themselves - I encourage everyone to do the same. Solidarity is free, and more important now than ever.

This TDOV, I celebrate all transgender people past, present, and future - we have existed, we do exist, and we will never stop existing. I bleed history - I bleed the blood of the transgender activists who fought for my place in society. I bleed the blood of the transgender activists fighting daily to be seen as equals. I bleed the blood of the transgender activists of our future who will one day truly have a seat at the table. Transgender people have and always will exist - swallow or be choked!

No matter what you do, make sure you are doing so in love. In this lifetime, the only person you truly have is your neighbor. No matter if your neighbor tucks between their legs or wears a binder on their chest, no matter the color their skin, the only true light we ever have in this life is our fellow human. Lead with love. Lead with solidarity.

I don’t care how much of strangers we may be, my heart is open to you. Especially if you are someone struggling to exist in the real world - I love you, and love will always win. I see you. You are history and you are real.

Stay woke. Stay angry. Stay Trans. Stay vulnerable. Stay alive.
