July 8th…What a lovely day celebrating a new year of life, good health, family, and love! The only one physically missing was you, mama. How I wish you were here to see your “babygirl” now.💛 44 was filled with such BLESSINGS & MIRACLES…filled with success, setbacks, acceptance, loss, forgiveness, joy, commitment to good health, and the CUTEST blessing in the form of my 8 month old puppy, Ari. 🐶 I thank God for it all and for the chance to continue on this beautiful journey of life. Thank you to EVERYONE who texted, called, and sent love in so many ways. Yall are my community and I love yall deeply💜. Heading out of town this am but before leaving, I took a moment yesterday to vote in this HISTORIC election and felt such determination and hope to help move this country forward!!! Well….Chapter 43 has arrived!!!! 🙌🏾 Thank you all for the phone calls, texts, flowers, cards, and well wishes on this day! Feeling so loved! 42 was a year to remember…it held transition, joy, immense grief, love, fun, forgiveness, success, growth, and setbacks. 2023 what a year you’ve been!!!! From the moment it began, I knew somehow it would be a transformative year. It brought transition from my longest professional home at GW all the way to the Midwest to begin my journey at the University of Michigan. While it’s always difficult to leave home, I’m so excited to continue to grow clinically and as a researcher in surgical education & leadership development!

Personally, 2023 saw me train for and complete my first half marathon in my mom’s honor (thank you for cheering me on, bestie💜💚!!!). What a journey that was that taught me the value of positive self talk, and….STRETCHING😂. It brought one of my best travel experiences to date in Thailand learning about the gifts of friendship, forgiveness, love, light, happiness and…delicious food!

Overall, this beautiful year had its share of success, love, heartache, growth, grief, uncertainty, support, completion, connection, and joy. But, I’m most grateful that it was filled, from head to toe, with becoming.✨

And so with that I say THANK YOU, 2023 and WELCOME, 2024!!!…I look forward to the journey that awaits!✨🙌🏾

Well…another amazing chapter closes and another begins! Thank you for all the calls, texts, voice notes, flowers and lovely birthday wishes! Feeling SO loved ! 💜

41 brought me LOTS of personal & professional growth, love, loss, success and some failures thrown in there for good measure!

I couldn’t be more grateful and thankful for such an amazing community of loved ones, friends, and family who have supported me through it all!!!!

As my #JackieRobinson year begins, there’s lots of new adventures coming my way as I leave my home base in the DMV and head to the Midwest!!! All I know is that I’m SO excited to continue on this journey of growth, love, and discovery! Let’s do this!

Another @gwsmhs graduation in the books!!! Such a beautiful celebration PLUS, I got to see two of my absolute favorite people!

Dr. Kofi Essel and I go way back to our @emoryuniversity and GW med school days and I am SO proud to see how he has positively impacted SO many students! It’s no wonder that they chose him to be a class hooder today! “Lil” bro is all grown up!!! 🥹✊🏾✨

Dr. Natasha Powell and I have had family ties that go all the way back to high school! She is literally shaping the minds of our medical students as she brilliantly leads GW’s Practice of Medicine curriculum. Excellence personified, y’all!

It’s an honor to know and love them both! Energized by all the excellence!!!

Well….This decade is shaping up to be a GREAT one! Chapter 40 is now closed and what a great year it has been from the moment it started! These middle pics are just a few highlights from the year. 40 brought growth, fun, insight, promotion, experimentation, love, loss, success and some failures thrown in there as well! Reflecting on the year, I’m so grateful and SO unbelievably thankful for such an amazing community of friends and family who have loved and supported me through it all!!!!

Recently, I was so elated to celebrate 20 years of sisterhood with nearly all of my line sisters (we missed you this time Tammy and Sylvia!!!). That time together was so special and a such lovely reminder of the beauty of this sisterhood and what it means.

It’s a bond that has been filled with growth, laughter, loss, joy, disagreements, forgiveness, success, setbacks, gains, advocacy, support…a bond filled with love. Growing, evolving, beautiful love…And it’s ours.
