What Fall 26 looks like: O chem 2, wondering why biochem is so hard, falling in love, talking on the phone for 6 hours🤎, med school talk, Starbucks walks and deep talks with Zoe, booking trips to the West Coast, Jaycee making everyone laugh, all of us feeling like we’re behind & therefore lifting one another up..only to realize we’re not…staying late at the STEM Ed center and quizzing each other…….Fall 26 is realizing we’re near the finish line and beside each other…I’m alongside the absolute best humans that I love so deeply whom all support one another…my cup is overflowing. taken in University of Arkansas at Little Rock by @htroillett10

Healing is so hard. I lost so much of myself. I was so desperate to be loved and just generally liked that I made excuses for my own mistreatment. And I did it for too long. I’m essentially learning to walk again. But I’ve been finding love and hope in places I wouldn’t have pictured; in the consistent texts checking in on me from friends, finding gifts & notes on my desk, 2 hr phone calls, invites to run at 7:30pm lol, being asked to tutor a student in chem, to be part of a research team, invited to dinner, to join their book club, go hiking…

It’s reading quotes on bathroom stalls & tearing up bc I realize the goodness in this world I once believed so strongly in was never a fantasy after all. It’s there. It’s been there this whole time. It’s noticing my friends faces light up when they turn around and see me..realizing my presence is celebrated. That I can actually take up space, I don’t have to shrink. It’s safe. I’m safe. I can be ME and breathe bc I’m genuinely cared for by these wonderful humans that have showed me what true unconditional love is. I’m realizing that true care and love allows you to grow, it doesn’t come with a cost.

I’m slowly emerging and letting my true self come out again and it feels so….alive. I feel alive. It’s like I’m seeing all of life in color now when before, I only saw one person in color. So, if you’re hurting right now, the absolute best advice I can give you is to say yes to friends & (healthy) family. When they invite you, go. Go in your sweatpants, they don’t care. Every single time, go. Even if it’s just for 15 min. I’ll be honest, a lot of times, it’ll feel like hell in the beginning bc you’d rather be home crying your eyes out in peace. But I promise these moments build. You’re rewiring your nervous system with new experiences that are healthy and loving. Replacing the old. Keep doing it. Learning to walk starts w/ baby steps.
