A trip to The Grand Hotel with the family. °❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:･

Summer has always been my greatest season for reflection. This season, and specifically this trip, held a lot of emotional significance. The past year and a half post-graduation has been spent finding my way back to myself. Routine therapy, some long needed diagnoses, and stable employment in something I’m passionate about have all done wonders. As I’ve grown more comfortable in my skin, my social life has blossomed, increasing the level of love and support I’m fortunate enough to receive. Finally, I find myself in a place where I routinely feel functional; and, increasingly GOOD about the way I present myself. It’s truly a privilege to end the Summer by giving back to and spending time with the support system that made that possible. Slowly but surely, I am strengthening my self trust and proving to myself that I am worth the effort.

Whether we have been close the past couple of years, or whether we’re just friends through the phone, thank you for cheering me on. I’d especially like to thank my parents, my partner Olivia, Dom & Ringo, James M., Aryssa S., SWAUCECHAT, the team at KSP, and anyone involved with Star Student. To all those, named or not, who have shown up for me in a positive way, I assure you that the impact is much greater than you may think. I hope to keep living and loving in ways that embody the gratitude I carry with me every day.

And, on that note - fit IDs in pinned comment. 📌 :) taken in Mackinac Island, Michigan by @https.jake.web

Branch Davidian Memorial Park & Church - Waco, TX
-

If you haven't, I encourage you to research and critically examine the ways in which the United States simultaneously fetishizes and punishes alternative religious communities, enabling the abuse that many cults are infamous for.

These structures are not created in a vacuum. Everyone searches for meaning, and the desperation behind that search is vulnerable to extortion when we culturally scoff at and turn a blind eye to religions outside the mainstream.

Rest in peace and in solidarity to all of those who have been taken advantage of or abused in their search for human belonging, whether it has been at the hands of a trusted figurehead or an impersonal, imperial government. taken in The Branch, General Assembly of Davidians by @https.jake.web
