Dow Hill is often referred to in popular culture as one of India's most haunted places. Local legends speak of the "Death Road" stretch between the road and forest office, tales of a headless boy, and unexplained whispers around the school grounds when closed for winter. Much of this reputation stems from the region's frequent thick fog, low visibility, and heavy mist, which create an unusually atmospheric and eerie ambience.
