🪞 FROM BEING SHAPED TO BECOMING THE SHAPER

That's what we studied last night.

We talked about all the things that shape us before we ever think to question them. Our environments, the language we're given, the people around us and (especially) ✨the things we repeatedly practice✨

↪️ But eventually the arrow turns around.

You realize you're not only being shaped by the world around you. You're also participating in shaping IT. That's what Auntie Rebellion has become for me.

I kept waiting to find my place and my people. People who are curious and enjoy deep conversation without performing expertise. Where art and ideas could live in the same room. Where meeting new people didn't have to revolve around networking or dating. 🥱

🫰Somewhere along the way, I stopped waiting and started building instead.

An intellectual commons. A little piece of public life organized around curiosity, creativity and participation.
Last night was another tiny piece of that world BECOMING REAL.

👉 That's anthropotechnics, fam. And it's what the room learned about last night. Every day we practice becoming. So what does your practice look like?🔮

Thank you to @cintelglow and @daynareann for helping me carry the message. This one was close to the heart. 🫶

When I approached @daynareann to design an art installation for Vol. 2 that was inspired by the theme of Becoming... I had *no idea* this was already the theme for her own body of work 😱

It's those little coincidences that make you feel like you're on the right path. Or that we're in a simulation. I don't know, take your pick.
