Our gallery looked a little different last night! Conversation took its place alongside the art as Danica Maier hosted an Artist Supper as part of Common Ground, bringing together fourteen artists and creatives around one table. Inspired by the ancient Greek symposium, the evening was about much more than sharing a meal. It was a chance to connect, exchange ideas, share experiences and spark conversations about what might be possible in the future. A lovely reminder that galleries aren't just spaces for art, but places for people to come together. A big thank you to all our guests for being part of the evening and bringing so much to the conversation! 💛 . . . #ArtistSupper #SpecialEvent #HubSleaford #Coversation #Craft by @hubsleaford

The Wash Estuary: Remember Nature This summer I had the pleasure of being part of the GroundWork residency, spending time responding to The Wash alongside a fantastic group of artists. It’s been a really important experience for me. I’ve learned so much about the place — its ecology, histories, wildlife, landscape and tides, and the relationship between people and this extraordinary environment. Spending time there has definitely shifted the way I think about site and the way I make work. What I’m showing feels like just the tip of the iceberg a starting point for something I know I’ll continue exploring and developing long after the residency. Next week, the work comes together in The Wash Estuary: Remember Nature, bringing together all 27 artists in residence alongside a wider group of invited artists. I’m really proud to be part of it and to be showing alongside such a brilliant group of people. You’re all very welcome to come along, see the work and experience the many different responses to this fragile, beautiful and sometimes dangerous place. Opening: Saturday 10 October, 4.30–7.30pm Opened by Steve Rowlands, Area Manager, RSPB Norfolk and Lincolnshire GroundWork Gallery 17 Purfleet Street King’s Lynn PE30 1ER There are also events happening across the weekend, including Petri Huurinainen’s Resting Place for Migrating Birds at Greenland Fishery on 11 October at 2pm, and Anna Harding’s Wash Cultures at King’s Lynn Old Workers’ Club on 10–11 October, 11am–4pm. It feels like there’s a lot going on at the moment. Work from the residency is also currently showing through GroundWork at The Hub, Sleaford, and the piece I’m showing in King’s Lynn grew out of further experimentation during a 24-hour residency at X-Church in Gainsborough — so these ideas are continuing to move, shift and find new forms. Really looking forward to seeing it all come together. If you’re nearby, come and have a look. by @hubsleaford
This summer @kartoffeln.zusammen visited the studio of @kelly_at_large to get a fascinating insight into her short film currently on show in Common Ground: Sleaford's Shared Stories. 16 years ago, hundreds of young people across Sleaford put on high-vis vests and walked home from school. ‘Our Name is Legion’ was made by artist Kelly Large in 2009, following a residency at Kesteven and Sleaford High School with Beacon Art Project. Kelly invited pupils from all three of Sleaford’s secondary schools to wear a high-visibility vest from the moment they left school until they arrived home. Around 2,000 young people took part, creating a huge collective movement through the town. The resulting film captures this moment, exploring adolescence, public space, authority and the ways young people occupy and move through the town. See the film now in Common Ground: Sleafords Shared Stories until 8 Nov. 🎥 The full, fascinating interview is available on Bloomberg Connects. #CommonGround #HubSleaford #KellyLarge #OurNameIsLegion #BloombergConnects by @hubsleaford
Did you know… every Wednesday we welcome students from St George’s Academy to the Hub for our Creative Learning Programme. As part of their enrichment, they spend the afternoon building confidence, trying new techniques and working hands‑on with practising artists. They kicked off the term with clay portraits led by Karen Chesney, and there’s a whole line‑up still to come: Muster Stools with Mark Clarke, Wet‑felted bowls with Karen Stewart, Lino Printing with Hannah Bigley, Photography with Tom Martin, booklet making with Daniel Rapley and a dive into art history with Andrew Bracey. If you work in a school and want to explore our education offer, drop us a message at visualarts@hub-sleaford.org.uk . . . #Education #Schools #VisualArts #Creative #HubSleaford by @hubsleaford
Step inside a world where the objects are watching you. In Punctum, filmmaker Dino Zhang flips the perspective, letting the artifacts on the musuem stores shelves tell their own stories. As Dino puts it, “The film is presented from the perspective of artifacts sitting on the shelves… instead of looking at the artifacts, the artifacts are looking back at the human.” This reverse gaze opens up a thoughtful exploration of how humans and objects hold memories. See the short film in Common Ground: Sleaford’s Shared Stories until 8 Nov 2026.
