I love photographing at what's becoming one of my favorite spots, overlooking the flowing James River and seeing the Richmond skyline from the elevated flood wall. As I was walking back from the flood wall I saw this intriguing cluster of plants.

Just seeing this uniquely diverse creation made me think of our awesome Creator and His endless creativity. After researching, I believe this plant to be the Eastern prickly pear that's in the Cactaceae (Cactus) family and this cactus family contains about 1,800 species.

What a busy but fruitful week it has been at the Boys & Girls Club and photographically as I covered three events over the weekend. As I woke up last Saturday, I left early to prepare for a portrait setting. I packed my equipment and timed the drive to my destination. As I crossed the Lee Bridge the clouds were so alluring and low wrapping around the skyline and hovering over the James River. With the rising sun piercing through the clouds, I really wanted to stop to capture the formations that I'd never seen like this before, however, I did not want to be late.

After the first photo shoot, I packed up to leave, and as I drove home the clouds, sun, and blue sky still caught my attention. A block from home I was compelled to capture as the heavens were still declaring the glory of God. taken in Richmond, Virginia by @huebj

As I thought about posting my next image this photo came to mind as we observe and celebrate the greatest of all HOLYdays.

The sun will brighten everything and everyone as it rises. Even if you are at a flood wall unless hidden in the shade. This reminded me of the needed piercing SONrise after darkness covered the whole earth because of all the sin and death due to all mankind. This gives us HOPE that we can be forgiven and begin again with a New Life in Christ with our resurrected relationship with God!

Thank you Jesus that even as gross darkness is all around us, your sacrifice gives us Strength, Power, Victory, and Resilience to live for you! Then with passion, we can shine our light and spread your goodness to others. taken in Manchester Flood Wall Lookout by @huebj

Going to work early as I traveled the streets of Church Hill, I watched a bright sunrise eclipse the top of the trees and houses, so I decided to turn off my regular route of Venable to see how the sun was illuminating one of the historic churches on the hill. Cedar Street Baptist Church, the seventh oldest church in the City of Richmond old sanctuary is so detailed and beautiful architecturally. As I pulled up yesterday morning the sun was illuminating the top of this massive structure and this is what I observed as I walked around it and captured this photo. What do you see? Look through my lens as I lifted my eyes. What words or thoughts come to mind when you see this?

As we are in the season of honoring the most significant life-giving sacrifice that the world has and will ever know, may we who have received Jesus, the gift of God BE the Light and BE the Church so others too will know Him and experience His goodness. by @huebj

I am enjoying daylight savings time! After a long day at work, I enjoy seeing the sun setting as I drive home instead of the darkness. As much as I want to just get home and unwind, I'm wondering what the disappearing sun looks like as it would frame Swans Lake.

So as I drive through Bryd Park, I see this tranquil site. Geese are gliding gracefully on the lake without a care in the world. The Carillon is a backdrop where the setting sun's glow remains. This was as good a place to begin to unwind, so I parked and walked to the edge of the lake to insert myself into this peaceful and therapeutic place. When I slow down to see and appreciate all that is around me, I see and reflect on the goodness of God and He has been Good! taken in Byrd Park Swan Lake by @huebj

This photo taken right after sunset of the Old City Hall while the sky still a muted blue raises the age-old question we may have asked before... who is leaving all these lights on lol.

Old City, this Victorian Gothic building was completed in 1894 and served as City Hall from 1894 through the 1970s. This historic architectural gem that is newly renovated has always been a subject that attracts photographers to capture its uniqueness. @richmond_.community

As I was leaving for the day from the Boys & Girls, I noticed the sun was brilliant and about to set. So as I kept an eye on it my route brought me to the foot of Jefferson Park. There I quickly parked and walked to see another elevated angle of the City of Richmond. It was beautiful.

As the sun slipped behind the skyline and the sky was painted with such a golden color, I was intrigued by this fountain that became a great subject that included the City's backdrop. It's hard to believe that in all my years living in Richmond, I have never been in Jefferson Park in the Union Hill neighborhood of Richmond.

This place is special for many reasons. As Byrd Park is in my backyard, so is Jefferson Park in my good friend Pastor Don Coleman's. I could sense him walking and praying here for our city and so many others. This was my first time exploring, capturing photos, and praying here, but will not be my last.

Each season had its appealing allure and I love the diversity of them all. I must say, however, Springtime is one of my favorites as it displays the awakened beauty of our creator's creation. by @huebj
