Throwback Post: A Few Highlights From Nairobi 🇰🇪

- That time The Local Grill turned water into wine. 😁🍷

*The audio on this post brought me to tears during one of my early days on the trip.*

Swipe 👉🏾

- A view of the colourful glassware store 😉

- CARBS! 🥹

- The lobby of the revolving restaurant 🤌🏾

- Clink, Clink 🥂

- Wine run! 🤭

- The first (and maybe best) local dish I tasted! 😍

In my hand: A plate of fried, seasoned beef chunks and greens (I’m guessing spinach).

Next to it: Ugali! 🇰🇪

Getting to not only taste it but actually enjoy it was such a relief and a personal win because one of my many concerns as a foodie was, “What if I don’t enjoy Kenyan food?” 😂

- Meeting “Sizwe”! 🫶🏾

- That time I captured a moment of Nairobi’s everyday commerce. (In my head I sound so cool with this caption). 😂

- Another wine run 🤭

- Another tasty treat 😋
Pilau (Kenyan Jollof).
Cabbage.
Guacamole.

- A view inside Nairobi’s biggest mall (Two Rivers Mall) 🦋

- That night we had pizza for dinner 🍕

For everything I’ve experienced over the past week, I’m reminded of this statement: “People are all we’ve got”. And I think I’ve got the best ones.

Hugh Onah: The Re-introduction

How does reinvention work when you’ve already been known by different people for so many different things?

These and many more questions have been the sledgehammer and building blocks of the past few months for me (which led to a few spirals, but we move).

Growing up, I was convinced I knew exactly what I wanted to do, and for a while I did. I went on to be a couple of those things: A Dancer (don’t you dare laugh! Yes, you!), an Actor (a pretty decent one at that), an On-Air Personality, a Red Carpet Host, a Waiter, a Sales Rep, a Recruiter, and I even tried out for a national singing competition after convincing myself I could be a Singer (what was I thinking, am I right?). I mean I could go on and on.

Then the shift occurred, I found my way into marketing and communications and for the first time, it didn’t feel like I was trying something out, It felt like I was arriving. Over the years, the entire process helped sharpen what was always there, and added a few more.

And now, here I am - Clearer. Steadier. More Certain.

I am Hugh Onah, a young professional turning his varied interests into billable hours. A storyteller at heart. A creative. A strategist. Armed with years of experience, a point of view, and a personality.

It’s still just me, Hugh; only now with an invoice.

Let’s talk in the DM!

And with that, we draw the curtains on the 3 of 3 style of my image documentation system, it was a fun run. There is a deep sense of satisfaction that comes with knowing that I stuck with something for as long as I have. Every post, reel, story, repost, comment, and share was carefully selected and genuine (I mean whose isn’t, am I right 😁).

As a sometimes lazy occasional sharer, I truly enjoy feeling the little connections we share, I thank you truly; especially how excited you guys act when the second batch of pictures drop when you already know it would be the same as the last with very tiny-almost-unnoticeable changes in my stance 😂🤣😂🤣

Now, that’s real love 🫶🏾😍
I mean, here are your Oscars 🏆👏🏾🎉

The algorithm said y’all will be more open to read a story on Sundays at this time, let’s see how true it is 🤞🏾🤭

Thank you, from me 🙏🏾

“Do the best you can until you know better, then when you know better, DO BETTER! - Maya Angelou.

Personally, 2025 was a deep dive into the core message of the above quote.

I redefined my worth and learned the true meaning of self-love and gratitude.

I’m thankful for the new friendships that made my heart light up, the old ones that continue to make my soul sing, and the several moments of joy however fleeting that reminded me of my worth and everything I deserve. Venturing into new territories, both physically and emotionally, celebrating small victories, and finding comfort in unexpected places was such an a thrill.

As I step into 2026, I carry with me the lessons learned, the kindness for everyone who played a part in this chapter of my life and the part they let me play in theirs.

Here’s to growth, resilience, and the beautiful journey ahead 🥂

Nairobi, you were a dream 🤩✨

Highlights from my trip included making the trip (finally), my epic jollof search (two places, one winner?), exploring the Museum of Illusion, and the crazy Malindi weekend was a moment!

Now, should I go for multiple videos or one super long one? 🤔

Which of these are you excited for?! taken in Time & Space by @hughoflagos
