The Zindagi Project, co-created by Bandana Tewari and Huma Adnan, has been a beautiful journey of empowerment and creativity. Together, we’ve crafted stylish, earth-friendly sandals with hand-crafted straps that tell stories of resilience and heritage. Refugee women, displaced by conflict, have reclaimed their identities through these traditional crafts, turning fashion into a true force for good.

We were thrilled to showcase this meaningful collection at our pop-up opening at Isetan Shinjuku, thanks to the dedication of Indosole Japan—especially from Shinsuke Hidaka, Alisa Evans, and Nobuaki Yanagida. Their efforts were key to bringing this vision to life and ensuring the collection’s seamless integration at one of Japan’s most prestigious department stores.

The excitement and buzz around our collaboration were truly heartwarming. Together, we’re proving that fashion can be more than just style—it can be a powerful tool for change, inspiring a brighter future for us all. taken in Isetan Shinjuku Global by @humaadnan

LOOK 08 •  REINCARNATION

A floor-length fall coat constructed almost entirely from densely hand-embroidered black velvet, framed by a plain velvet shawl collar and back belt.

The velvet originally formed a traditional South Asian pishwas presented in December 2024. The garment was completely dismantled, its embroidered sections mapped and individually recut to preserve the existing handwork while rebuilding the textile around an entirely new pattern.

The coat is engineered through a controlled shoulder, tapered sleeve and sharply suppressed waist before releasing into a floor-length A-line. Working with heavily embroidered velvet required each panel and seam placement to account for the weight, density and existing composition of the embroidery.

A plain black velvet shawl collar is cut against the uninterrupted gold surface, with a corresponding velvet belt defining the waist at the back.

From shoulder to hem, the embroidered surface remains almost continuous despite the complete reconstruction beneath it.

LOOK 07 • CINDERELLA

A sculpted teal-blue corset paired with a ball skirt constructed from more than 70 metres of tulle.

The corset is cut from embroidered deadstock, assembled into panels and structured with internal boning to create a tightly controlled waist. Dimensional embroidery across the textile creates a raised, almost debossed surface.

More than 70 metres of blue tulle are cut, gathered and constructed into the skirt, creating extreme volume while retaining lightness and movement.

The contrast is deliberate: rigid corsetry against weightless volume. Within a collection defined by tailoring and dense hand embroidery, Cinderella reduces the ball gown to two elements: structure and tulle.

@parishae.adnan - Second Skin | NYFW 2026

LOOK 01 • MY FATHER’S TIE
Green and gold brocade two-piece suit tailored into an exaggerated hourglass silhouette.

Reconstructed from two deadstock sherwanis, with embroidered green velvet lapels from a shawl, red velvet trim and printed silk lining. The gold raw silk tie was hand-embroidered by my father in 2001 and preserved for 20+ years for Second Skin.

The opening look is rooted in structured menswear - precise and controlled - setting the foundation for the next eight looks as masculine codes shift into feminine silhouettes.
