I’m excited to share my play, Pilgrimage, which I’ve co-written with Bridgette Dutta Portman will have its world premiere at @goldenthreadplays 2025 season.

We’re excited and honored to be part of this illustrious line up. Thank you @saharassaf Assaf for shepherding our play through workshops and now the world premiere. We are grateful for your support.

We’re heading to Georgetown University!

I’m so excited that Pilgrimage is continuing its journey with a residency at The Lab for Global Performance and Politics at Georgetown University this November!

After our world premiere in San Francisco last fall, thanks to @goldenthreadplays and @zspacesf, Bridgette and I have been eager to get back into the rehearsal room and see where we can take the play next.

There’s always more to discover about the characters and their stories.

A big thank you to @thelabgu for welcoming us and giving us the space to continue developing this work. We’re looking forward to collaborating with director Shadi Ghaheri who I have worked with before and love as a collaborator and a wonderful group of DC-area actors. Cast announcement coming soon.

Can’t wait to see what we discover together!

I had the pleasure of hosting @goldenthreadplays annual board retreat at my home this year, during a very special milestone—our 30th anniversary.

It was an inspiring day spent with a group of smart, thoughtful, and deeply committed people, reflecting on where Golden Thread has been and imagining where we can go from here.

We welcomed three new board members @odcikin, @matthew.spangler.1 & Selma Abinader.

Here’s to the next 30 years. ❤️ taken in San Francisco, California by @humairaghilzai

The Afghan American Heritage Gala at San Francisco City Hall Rotunda was a fabulous celebration of a city that is welcoming of its immigrant community.

Four years ago a young Afghan American woman, Mahanaz Ebadi, who works at the office of Supervisor Dorsey introduced a proclamation to officially recognize Afghan American Heritage. The 13 city council members of San Francisco approved and shortly after, the state of California also designated the month of August as the Afghan American Heritage month.

At tonight’s gala, we celebrated 3 years that the month of August has been designated as the Afghan American Cultural Heritage month.

It was lovely to see so many members of our community in this beautiful venue to celebrate a historic event spearheaded by a young woman who had a vision for our community. taken in San Francisco City Hall by @humairaghilzai

Yup, we’re in Arizona during this heat spell but not all of Arizona is hot.

We’re in beautiful Sedona which runs around 85 degrees (atm) with a light breeze. It’s been fun exploring the red rocks and alternative lifestyle of this special little town by @humairaghilzai
