Six months ago I was heading into my second year of sales, straight out of the biggest heartbreak of my life.

I thought the team I’d built was going to propel life to the next level for all of us,

I genuinely believed it would be almost impossible for me to make less than $200k.

I put everything I owned in a friend’s garage in Texas and took a one-way flight to Washington, DC.

The first quarter of the summer, my team fell apart, my goals seemed out of reach, and I gave up on myself.

I let fear rob me of the shot I had.

I was going through the motions, but there was no intent behind any of it.
I’d already decided it was a lost cause, so that’s exactly what it became.

Three weeks before the end of the season I was told that my head clearly wasn’t in it and that I should just go home.

I didn’t even know where home was anymore.

But I’d fallen in love while I was there — so I followed my heart instead.

For a while that felt like failure. No plan, no job, nothing to point to.

It took me a minute to realize it was the first honest decision I’d made all year.

Here’s what I’ve learned since:

The unknown was never really the problem. Me being scared of it was.

Once I stopped fighting the fact that I didn’t know what was coming and started looking at it like an opportunity, everything flipped.

I got present again

I stopped living three months ahead of myself

and weirdly, the stuff I’d been gripping for so hard just started showing up on its own.

I don’t chase outcomes anymore. I’m not trying to control how any of it plays out.

I’m just enjoying the ride, and honestly it’s better than anything I was trying to force.

An unforgettable night with a promise to my partner Raina ❤️

** I haven’t publicly spoken on my polyamory, I know it’s controversial, and I don’t believe that any way is “the right way”, as I also recognize the beauty in monogamous devotion.

What I want to share is the concept of Love regardless of the relationship dynamic, because Love is a choice.

Love is not attraction, lust, or infatuation.
It’s not attachment, control, or expectation.

Love is acceptance, honor, and respect.
It is accountability, support, and honesty.

We’re human…
Patience, understanding, forgiveness- we know them better than we live them.

But Love isn’t perfection either, it’s the returning.

The promise I make to my partners is that no matter what role I play in their life (friend, lover, comet) I will always strive to return to the values of Love.

Raina, whatever position I hold in your life, I’ll keep choosing this 🪽

And to everyone who read this far…
