One of the incredible places to visit while staying at #anamayashram 🧘🏼‍♂️

This stunning cluster of 18 stone temples was built during the rule of the Katyuri in the 9th century, and is dedicated primarily to Lord Shiva, worshipped here as Vaidyanath.

According to local lore, the temples were constructed in a single night, with two left unfinished. The main temple’s original shikhara, or tower, partially collapsed and was never restored to its original form.

The complex stands on the banks of the Gomti River and is protected by the Archaeological Survey of India.

When an afternoon hike to a waterfall turns into tea with baba ji Ashtawakra, at his one-man riverside Ashram in the forest. My favourite part was the further reminder to slow down - when he offered us tea and retreated into his room to light the fire I turned to Jazmín and said, "This is going to take a while." And honestly, in the end the tea tasted pretty terrible, but none of that was the point. A moment later we saw a flock of gorgeous birds returning to their trees to roost, we got to spend more time amongst the trees and river, our friend had more time to recover from the process she was experiencing. It was all as it was meant to be. What a wonderful life! Namaste, Ashtawakra 🙏🏻 🪷 taken in India by @humancity

Have you ever experienced sunset afterglow? It's a phenomenon where the sky darkens to twilight as normal, however after the sun completely disappears beyond the horizon, the sky suddenly becomes light again - typically casting an eerie, dusty golden light. A photographer's dream, especially when he has someone as stunning as Jazmín to pose for him 😍 taken in Rishikesh by @humancity

A lot of work simply happens on the street here. I wish I could communicate properly with these guys, some of them were very interested in me and vice versa but our interactions are limited by the language barrier. It was sweet, though, to be recognised and waved to when I passed one of them a few days later. taken in India by @humancity

We enrolled in an upcoming course of Transcendental Meditation and later discovered that it includes an introduction to Vastu shastra - Indian architecture and design-related texts. Colour me saffron!

No matter one's religion or creed, it is impossible to enter these temples and not perceive a change in energy. Those which are best preserved and not entirely ruined by tourism are remarkably healing, even if just visited and enjoyed with respect and an open heart. Where God resides, peace is found. Some go to malls and theatres to pass the time, but an ancient sacred site makes time seem irrelevant. taken in India by @humancity

Karol Bagh night market in Delhi. Everyone was so friendly and engaging. Except for the man with the clay pots, he yelled at me for "profiting off photos of his business". Dude, I have 300 followers and the same 6 people like all my photos, calm your farm 😂 taken in Karol Bagh Market by @humancity

The dignified presence held by Indian women is an elegance in its own right.

In most countries I've visited, I've found that men and women are fairly equal in the energy they exude, and the way they carry themselves. And well, maybe I'm biased because I've always been more socially drawn to women than men, but here I find the distinction quite pronounced and - energetically - the women are more pleasant to be around.

Obviously this is a gross generalisation and there are many individual males in India who have a sublime presence as well, but there is a certain allure about Indian women in which I find a platonic curiosity. by @humancity
