WOW! This is a perfect example of dictators and what they can do if given absolute power. Absolute power corrupts absolutely! We were on the edge of our seats from beginning to end listening to this incredible interview conducted by our correspondent Andrew G @humbldad with Yulanda Williams, an actual survivor of The Jonestown Massacre! Listening to Yulanda tell her story of survival will send chills down your spine. Bet you won’t be able to stop either till the end either. (Swipe left for interview)

For those who don’t know, The Jonestown Massacre occurred on November 18, 1978, in Jonestown, Guyana, where over 900 members of the Peoples Temple, a cult led by Jim Jones, died in a mass murder-suicide. Jones had established the settlement in Guyana as a supposed utopia, but conditions were harsh, and members were controlled and manipulated. When U.S. Congressman Leo Ryan visited Jonestown to investigate claims of abuse, he and several others were killed by Temple members as they tried to leave. Shortly after, Jones ordered his followers to drink cyanide-laced punch, leading to the mass deaths. The event is one of the largest mass casualties involving U.S. citizens in history.

Stories like these are why it’s important to know your rights and keep fighting impunity and corruption in all levels of leadership from the grassroots with organizations like churches and even work places to the highest levels in government and world leadership.

Please watch and leave your comments with your thoughts below.

The docuseries titled ‘Cult Massacre: One Day in Jonestown’ is currently available to stream on @hulu and premieres on August 14th on @natgeo
