Dispatch from Long Beach, California, skateboarder @leoromero dials in for our first Good Chat of 2026. With equal amounts skin in the game and on the pavement, Leo’s legacy remains unstoppable. A true architect of modern street skating, Leo left an indelible mark on Foundation, Emerica, Baker, and Toy Machine, but there’s more to the man than switch flips and handrails.

Leo casts an equally long shadow as a photographer. His visual vocabulary holds all the promise of a slow-burning neo-western, complete with Sergio Leone-esque closeups, outlaws, and iron horses. This is life as he knows it.

“Elevated disposable.” That’s how @nick_kts describes his photography work, and it’s a fair warning to anyone still spraying and praying.

Pittsburgh-raised, Austin-based, never leaves the house without a film camera, quoting ice hockey great Wayne Gretzky, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”.

Always strapped, Nick’s practice is rooted in discipline and everyday observation.

We upended his Hi-Fi Sling for the latest Bag Raid – Leica M6, Contax G2 (when it’s not broken), a Yashica T4 and a Polaroid of his dog.

Our first community Photo Walk with @alt.major @ryanheywood @mqrgs @lazaruslab @lavaartsfestival Art deco shopfronts, cane country edges, borrowed light, and a crew of trigger-happy photographers loaded up on film.

Thirty people, two hours, plenty of rolls burned.

Neon signs, street lights, busy markets. Scott Chin has visited a thousand times over, but the city’s narrative shifts every 24 hours. Now with his Canon EOS 7s, he sees it anew.
