Last month, Cru Hunter & the Dream Team collaborated together to screen the film, "Between Borders."

The movie follows the Petrosyan family as they flee Azerbaijan due to ethnic violence targeted at Armenians. The family fled to Russia and found hope in a church planted by American missionaries. Upon a visit to the States with the congregation, they applied for asylum but risked deportation after overstating their visa. The family eventually won their case and were granted asylum.

Let us remember to show love to our neighbor, as these missionaries did for this refugee family.

Cru and the Dream Team are partnering for a movie night! 🍿🎬

Between Borders (2025) is a faith-based drama based on the true story of the Petrosyan family, Armenian Christians facing persecution in the collapsing Soviet Union, who flee Azerbaijan and Russia seeking refuge in the United States. Directed by Mark Freiburger, the film follows their journey of faith and resilience as they navigate discrimination and seek asylum.

This weekend a group of us attended the yearning to breathe free conference hosted by the brown dream team. @ytbf_conference @browndreamteam

⭐️We attended workshops and panels about the resources available to undocumented youth in other schools, and learned about how communities in rhode island are organizing for immigrant justice and against deportations.

⭐️We shared space with other immigrant student clubs, and built new connections.
We want our schools to thrive!! and be spaces for all of us to get the education, connections, and the resources we deserve. Even alumni! Like imagine mentorship programs!!

⭐️Hearing what other schools are doing was hard. It is very obvious how severely underfunded CUNY is, how little resources and spaces are available, and by extension how little us students get. It leaves us at a severe disadvantage. It leaves us competing for the few paid opportunities the very few scholarships.
