Martinez Mexican Bar & Grill in Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood is a popular, family-owned spot known for its authentic, Mexican food, especially its massive “Big Baby Burrito”. It’s a unique combination of a grocery store and a restaurant, offering a casual atmosphere with big flavors, generous portions, and a full bar with cocktails.

Carne asada torta: 8.5/10
The torta was just amazing, the juicy steak took it over the top and the bread they use is also outstanding and super fresh, cant go wrong with ordering a torta from them!

Chicken Flautas: 8.5/10
Super crispy just how I like em, the chicken inside was a little dry but still flavorful and the sour cream is a must with them of course.

Overall rating 8.5/10

Antique Taco Bridgeport is a vibrant neighborhood gem that blends vintage charm with creative high quality Mexican street food. Housed in a beautiful space with antique inspired aesthetic, casual counter service experience that feels both trendy and deeply community oriented. The jewel of the venue is its fantastic, spacious outdoor patio a lively, dog friendly space that is perfect for sunny afternoon lunches or summer evenings.

Fried Chicken Burrito 8/10
The burrito was flavorful, chicken was crispy and so was the trotilla, I thought it could have used a little less greens and more chicken but still great nonetheless.

Crab & Shrimp Flautas 9/10
These Falutas were packed with real crab and shrimp meat that was very flavorful and crispy all the way to the last bite.

35th Street Red Hots is a legendary, no-frills fast-food stand situated just blocks west of Guaranteed Rate Field (home of the Chicago White Sox)

Founded in 2005, it operates as part of the acclaimed Redhot Ranch restaurant family, sharing the same ownership, affordable pricing, and high-quality minimalist menu.

RHR Burger 8/10
The burger was Juicy, packed with flavor and cheesey goodness and that famous red hot ranch (RHR) sauce. Anyone in the area should definitley stop by and get a burger!

Ninja turtle fan? Then Cowabunga pizza pie is definitely the place for you! Throughout the whole store you’ll see TMNT figures, sculptures, shirts and more…! Even their pizzas are named after TMNT characters.

The Fun guy slice 7.5/10
It’s a white slice meaning no marinara sauce on it, instead they use riccota cheese, mozzerella, mushrooms and other great toppings. (White slices are my go to!)

Cowabunga Special Slice 6/10
Didnt really see anything “special” behind other than the name but good effort with the sausage as it had a nice flavor to it. Other than that it’s just a regular slice of pizza.

I would say though that their pizza dough is great and really crispy when they warm it up for you.

@ricobenes is one of those legendary spots that you cant miss while in Chicago!

Breaded Steak sandwich 8/10
Even though it was heavy, it was packed with steak that’s deepfried and topped with melted mozzerella cheese. They usually do it dipped which means they dunk the whole sandwich in red gravy but that’s too much for me so I had it on the side.

@viennabeef products are a staple across Chicago land and that’s mainly because a lot of restaurants in chicago use their products and visiting their factory store ensures you get the best and freshest meats possible from them.

Jumbo Beef Dog 8/10
I think this is the best place to get a clean and great quality hotdog and again most of the hot dogs being made across chicago would most probably be a vienna beef hotdog.

They have more great items on their menu so be sure to stop by and check them out!

Overall: 8/10

Mexico Steak House is an authentic mexican restaurant that deserves more recognition for their freshly made food and great service.

Chips and Salsa 8/10
Freshly made flour tortialls fried to order.

Chicken Mole 8.5/10
The chicken was fall off the bone tender, juicy, and covered in delicious Mole, the complexity of the mole sauce was outstanding with the perfect balance of spice. Served with rice, beans & flour totillas
*Would reccomend this dish*

Mole Enchillads 7.5/10
Same amazing Mole covering 3 enchiladas stuffed with chicken & cheese, they use fresh corn tortillas for their enchiladas but I prefer flour tortillas.

Overall rating:
8/10

Let me know the best Mole spots in Chicago!

Northern taste Is a great place to get some good chinese food that’s affordable and plentiful.

Stir fried Beef noodles 8/10
These noodles were great and one of my favorite items at this restaurant, the beef flavored sauce is savory and ties everything together perfectly, noodles were cooked perfectly and had a nice chew to them.

Soup Dumplings 7/10
Thought these would have more soup filling inside of them, but even though they were a little empty they did have meat balls inside of them which compensated for the small amount of soup filling, but I’d go with another choice of dumplings next time.

Scallion pancakes 7.5/10
The Pancakes are great for scooping up some protein and eating it with that, they do feel a little doughy in the middle but I think that’s how they’re suppose to be, and the flavor of the scallions dont really come out but still a good addition to a meal.

Uncle Mike’s place is a Filipino restaurant serving big portions of breakfast & lunch with some filipino twists.

We had 2 combo plates,
Tocino & Longanisa served with garlic fried rice and eggs, and the other was a Skirt steak with baby Bangus (fried fish) as well as Garlic fried rice and eggs.

I recommend getting the Tocino, Longanisa, or any of the fish they offer as the steak wasn’t anything special and was a little tough / chewy.

For the Garlic fried rice, it could’ve used some more garlic and seasoning as I didn’t feel it was flavorful enough to be called fried rice, The eggs were okay.

Ratings:
Tocina & Longanisa combo plate: 8/10
Steak & baby Bangus: 7/10
Overall: 7/10
Total Bill: ~40$

📍The Duck Inn.
Rotisserie Duck Review

The Duck Inn is a neighborhood staple in Bridgeport, Chicago offering specialty duck centric dishes.

Their rotisserie duck was presented beautifully but ultimately lacked in overall flavor with the duck itself, using the gravy that comes with the dish lifts it up but not enough to help the dish as a whole. The other ingredients in the dish were also disappointing and a missed opportunity where they could have turned raw pears into roasted or caramelized one’s to help give the dish a little sweetness instead of just the salt & savory.

Overall Review: 6.5/10

@wrapitjo Is a good choice for sandwich lovers like me as they have multiple options on their menu that would surely satisfy many people.
*
Slide 1: Roast beef (5JDs) The sandwich was flavorful, moist, and well balanced. The roast beef had great flavors, the brie combined with the mustard, sweet caramelized onions and roast beef went perfectly together as well as their choice of bread for this sandwich. Overall I thought the Roast beef was a winner.
*
Slide 2: Club Sandwich (5JDs) This sandwich on the other hand was disappointing, The whole sandwich was almost one note in which I mean there wasn’t anything that really stood out about it. The chicken was a bit tough and bland, The egg needed seasoning, and overall the sandwich wasn’t all that great.
