After a hurricane, the pressure to repair your home quickly can feel overwhelming. Take time to check who you’re hiring.

Before signing or paying:

• Verify the contractor’s license.
• Request proof of insurance.
• Get a written estimate describing the work and cost.

ALWAYS check the license yourself:

Share this with someone preparing to hire a contractor.

You may not need this number- but a neighbor might.

If someone you know is facing cleanup after Hurricane Isaias, share the Crisis Cleanup hotline: (800) 451-1954

Residents can call to request free volunteer assistance with storm-damaged homes. Help depends on available teams and is not guaranteed.

Please check on neighbors who may have difficulty finding resources online, especially older adults and people with disabilities.

For emergencies, call 911.

Before you pay a contractor, check these three things:

1. Is the license active?
2. Do the contractor’s name and company match the official record?
3. Does the license cover your project?

A license number printed on a business card or estimate is something to verify yourself.

Search Florida’s official DBPR database:
https://www.myfloridalicense.com/wl11.asp?mode=0

Check first. Hire and pay only after doing your homework.

ALWAYS verify a contractor’s license before hiring them, signing a contract or giving them money- even if someone you trust recommended them.

Use Florida’s official DBPR license lookup to check that the license is active, matches the contractor and company, and covers the work you need.

Ask for proof of insurance and a written estimate, too.

Verify here:

Save this reminder before starting your storm repairs.

📸 Good people. Great purpose. A little bit of personality. 🧡

Thank you to everyone who showed up for Tampa Bay on September 24.

Two years ago, Hurricane Helene & Milton changed Greater Tampa Bay.

Milton came just two weeks after Helene. Homes flooded twice. Families displaced, then displaced again. For a lot of our neighbors, the storm passed and the hardest part was just beginning.

Two years later, many are still waiting to rebuild. Still in temporary housing. Still fighting insurance claims. Still carrying it.

To every one of them: you're not forgotten here. 🧡

We see you. And we're still here.

📸 Little moments. Big smiles. 🧡

Between the kits, the resources, and the hard conversations about recovery, there was a whole lot of joy on September 24. Kids picking out their bags, neighbors catching up, partners sharing their expertise at their booths.

Preparedness is serious work. But it's also about community, and community looks a lot like this.

Download StormResQ, our FREE app connecting residents who need help evacuating flooded homes after a hurricane with trained, verified nonprofit response teams.

Submit your location and request for assistance so volunteer responders can locate you and coordinate support. Assistance depends on available teams and conditions.

Download before the storm so you’re ready when you need it.

Always call 911 first. StormResQ is for non-emergency assistance and does not replace 911.

Download at stormresq.com or through the link in our bio.

📸 "So what's your vision for this room?"

To fill it. 🧡

And Tampa Bay delivered. Families, volunteers, sponsors, and partners packed the Bob Buckhorn River Center on September 24 for our first Remember. Rebuild. Prepare. event, and nobody left without a kit, an answer, or a new connection.

Thank you for filling the room and showing up for each other.
