Custom display cabinet for the St Joe Studio project turned out killer!

Can you guess what the client does?

It is so awesome to see the things we build in use and in such a cool way .

The machines on display were custom designed by our client and they are one of kind specific to her particular niche.

So cool ! 😎

Kudos to the Hurst shop team for the awesome work and the @hoke_ley team for designing in such a cool feature. #collaboration

Not your typical garage!

We wrapped up this sweet little garage addition in mission hills last year and little did I know, at the time, what would get stored inside. (Not your average daily driver!)

This goal of this project was to create a simple understated garage that complimented the house and gave some privacy to the back yard. The new stone wall hides the stairs to the back yard and ties the forms together beautifully. It also lends a sense of elevation and privacy for when the family hang out on the patio.

The garage also sits just slightly tucked behind the house and is rotated slightly off axis at to the house . It’s these little details that really give this a quiet elegance and make this one of my favorite projects.

Doesn’t hurt that it houses a classic beautiful classic Dino either!

Project is Live on our website !

Do have something special that deserves a home ? Do you need some extra space ? Let’s find an elegant solution together.

Build to a higher standard with Hurst Construction. (And have fun doing it)

It’s all in the Details!

These custom cabinets were designed to feel like furniture floating in the space . They sit on custom fabricated mirror polished stainless frames that rest slightly behind the face of the cabinets.

The mirror polish stainless contrasts the warmth of the custom teak veneer at times reflecting the warm tone of the wood or the even the trees outside side. Sometimes you even sense the movement of people and light as you move around the space.

The interplay of cold metal and warm wood is simply beautiful. Our fabrication team in the shop worked closely with the Architects and Metal fabrication crew to bring this together seamlessly.

Teamwork’s and collaboration for the win!

Let’s build your dream! Whether it’s a new house or custom cabinets we can help.

The shop team has been busy as bees building the next round of Cabinets for our St joe Reno project.

Currently in production is a 20’ long media wall with lots of storage a full fridge and a paneled central wall for TV .

Also some cabinets for the primary suite. Including a walnut perfume bottle display cabinet , and vanity.

So much more to come for this house so stay tuned - and I promise to move slower next time .

Our Fairway addition project is underway and making great progress.

For this project @mchenryshafferarchitecture designed a small bedroom addition to sit above a covered porch on a beautiful 1930s brick classic. The idea is to blend the new into the old as seamlessly as possible, and most of that hinges on the roof and eave line matching up to the existing.

Of course the team @schelpconstruction is making it look easy, framing the new roof to carry the old line straight through. From there it comes down to the brick and the clay tile roof matching up.

More as it comes together.

We’re hiring. KC + Lawrence.

Project Manager, Lead Carpenter, and Carpenter — three seats, three different levels.

We build for a range of designers and architects. Different aesthetic, different detail, every job unique. Plenty of people can build to a drawing. We’re looking for people who build from what the drawings mean, not just what they say — and who speak up when something won’t work.

We make our own millwork in-house, out of our Blind Rabbet shop. The details most builders sub out, we solve ourselves.

We’re a small team. Your call carries weight.

PTO, 401k, insurance, and a real path up — Lead Carpenter is a step toward PM here, not a ceiling.

DM us, or tap the hiring link in bio for all three postings.

At first glance, one might think this modern home just outside Kansas City, Kansas, has retained its original 1957 design by renowned local firm Kivett and Myers. However, several additions had changed and compromised its integrity over time—among them, a sunroom that lacked a foundation. Today, the house is structurally and visually intact due to a meticulous renovation by local firm FORWARD Design | Architecture.

SHOP UPDATE!

The shop team has been hard at work on a curvaceous walnut kitchen.

Been a few mishaps getting the panels to cooperate but it’s turning out awesome! This kitchen is gonna be something else .

This is in no small part due to the talents of the wonderful team @kalibuchananinteriordesign

Stay tuned for more !
