Hi! My name is Joe. I grew up here. Left in 2004 for college, came back, left again, and kept finding my way home.

When I moved back for good last year, I realized the Hudson Valley I knew had changed. New spots, new faces, places I’d never heard of. And every time I wanted to go out, I’d end up at the same chains and places because I didn’t know where else to look.

So I built HV Local. First for me, to discover new places to eat and things to do. Now for anyone who wants to find the spots that make this place feel new everyday.

This isn’t just about me. I know someone reading this can relate. From Yonkers to Hudson and everywhere in between, this is for you, your friends, your families and the new people you’ll meet. It starts with a search. It starts with HV Local.

5 new Hudson Valley spots on our radar this week. 👀

🌭 @coldspringsocial (Cold Spring): a new cocktail bar + hot dog spot with $5–$7 dogs

🥩 Aster at @huttonbrickyards (Kingston): just opened Oct 29, a French steakhouse in the old Cordts Mansion

🥔 @nonninashouse (Wappingers Falls): cozy neighborhood Italian named for the owner’s great-grandma. Grandma’s Croquettes with cacio e pepe aioli, here we come

🔥 @ellie.mezze (Hudson): wood-fired Eastern Mediterranean on Warren Street

🍝 @lobacatskills (Tannersville): mezze + handmade pasta in the Catskills

We share 5 new spots every Monday in The Hit List, HV Local’s free newsletter. 🔗 Link in bio (hvlocal.com/subscribe)

We rolled into @hotstuffcoffeeshop and walked out HIGHLY impressed. The vibe? Warm. The service? On point. The drinks? Straight-up the reason we’re already planning the next visit. *Gone Bananas is gone but feel free to try something else!*

This week’s Dish & Tell breaks down exactly what we ordered and why it hit 👀

📬 Today’s Monday edition of The Hudson Valley Hit List is live:

They were on our radar, then we went bananas in Fishkill. Literally. 🍌☕

@hotstuffcoffeeshop is run by Steph & Amy: two graphic designers, two moms, and now two of the coolest baristas in Dutchess County. The inside looks like a mood board (this place is a whole mood) came to life, and there’s NO Wi-Fi. On purpose. You’ll survive, we promise. Put the phone down, say hi to a stranger, become a regular. 🛋️

The drink? The Gone Bananas. Hands down unlike any coffee we’ve had in Dutchess yet. 🤯

The catch? Their featured drinks rotate, so by the time you read this it might be gone. (Sorry. Not sorry. Go anyway.) We’re already plotting a return trip for the Apple Bottom Dreams before it rotates out. 🍎👀

Woman-owned, community-built and a little bit funky. Hot Stuff is exactly what it says on the cup. 🔥

Fall weekends just got a whole lot easier. 🍂

👩‍🌾 Own a farm or work at one? Look yourself up. If your farm isn’t listed yet (or something needs an update), send it our way and we’ll add it. Getting listed is FREE. We want every farm from Yonkers to Hudson on the map.

We squeezed in one more drive-in night before the season wrapped: a double feature at @fourbrothersdrivein in Amenia. 🎬🍿

This isn’t your average drive-in. Show up early for mini golf, the arcade, the playground and yard games. Rent a fire pit on cold nights, or stay over in an Airstream or at a tent site. Dogs welcome too.

Food comes two ways, The Shack or the full restaurant, and car hop brings it to you. We shared wings, chicken fingers, mozz sticks and fries out of the trunk. Next time, a milkshake.

Pro tip: buy your tickets online ahead of time to get through the gate faster.

As the colder weather arrives, we wanted to highlight our visit to @fourbrothersdrivein in Amenia in Dutchess County before they close for the season. 🎬🍿

This isn’t your average drive-in. Come early for mini golf, the arcade and yard games. Rent a fire pit for chilly nights, or stay over in an Airstream. We caught a double feature and shared wings, chicken fingers, mozz sticks and fries from the trunk. Next time, a milkshake and lobster rolls. The food was so good we forgot to grab video smh.

We realize it’s like 30 degrees out now but we couldn’t pass up showing how cool this place is. We will CERTAINLY be back when it gets warm again!

Pro tip: buy your tickets online ahead of time to get through the gate faster.
