Tessuto- Italian to for fabric.

A fitting word and definition for my first collection for @ellis_works_ Designed and debuted last year, this collection was inspired by the works of the Italian master Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio. After seeing his paintings last year during a work trip to Rome, and studying the way he rendered and draped fabric, I set to work painting and crafting pieces in wax.

Using thin wax I treat it like bolts of fabric or hides of leather, pulling, pushing, and then capturing the movement. Pieces are frozen in time after being cast in rich brass. Finally they are brought to a mirror finish so the light and shadows can dance together.

Find these and other pieces at Ellis works. More to come. Grazie.

It was good to be back.

Last week I had the honor of returning to @homofaber as live artisan. I spent five days commuting to the island, working among new found friends, and discovering a new side of Venice. It was a magical experience that led to new connections and more inspiration than I can unpack.

Thank you to everyone who opened this door. by @hw___studio
