In July 2023 I got a routine MRI for my chronic nausea & instead of a reason for that a tumor was found in my brain. I got a biopsy in October & it is a grade 2 Astrocytoma, a cancer tumor made of star shaped cells. It is slow growing & thankfully has not affected me cognitively or physically yet. I am still me. It is between my ear & the top of my head on the left side of my head. It is deep on the left side of my brain & because of that it is inoperable. The plan now is to get scans every 6-8 months & then hopefully start the drug Vorasidenib which got approved by the FDA this week that targets the mutation & has been shown to keep tumors the same size & even shrink some. Once that stops working, I will take chemo pills then radiation which is the last resort.

I am so grateful for my incredible support system, doctors, nurses and MRI techs.

It’s been a scary, hard year but I am thriving. Having this tumor has been a worldview shift for me. I am even more grateful for life & I am living life to the fullest.

I want to give a special thanks to @bartonc. He went through a very similar thing about a month after my biopsy. It still boggles my mind that 2 Denver kids both ended up with grade 2 brain tumors at 32. Bart & his wife @sophiethoerner have been such a support. They are a big part of the reason why now I finally feel ready for the world to know. by @hweil999
