Robyn Hitchcock has spent five decades making music with the kind of color and whimsy that sounds as much a musical painting as being any kind of standard for quirky British art-rock. He’s always been surreal, wry, and stubbornly uninterested in trends. As co-founder and songwriter for the critically influential Soft Boys (1976–81), Hitchcock helped forge an influential art-rock touchstone that outlasted the lifespan of the band itself. Please enjoy this conversation with one of Britain’s finest...however NOW he lives in Nashville and is as creative now as he’s ever been. Author of ‘Too Much Too Young: The 2 Tone Records Story,’ Daniel Rachel has a NEW book, ‘This Ain’t Rock ‘n’ Roll: Pop Music, the Swastika and the Third Reich’ (with an introduction by Billy Bragg). It’s a fascinating read, DEEPLY researched and at times chilling. In this conversation, we dig into why generations of performers — from punk provocateurs to arena-filling icons — have wrapped themselves in the aesthetics and mass hysteria of Nazism, and Third Reich iconography, whether for shock value, ignorance, or something far more disturbing, and what that says about an industry that’s largely given them a pass. Take a deep dive with two Daniels. Links in the bio or at www.theCApod.com by @hwpr_la

"It’s necessary reading for any fan of the artist, but also for anyone interested in what the remaining UK music scene was like when punk was exploding, leaving the children of the ‘60s wandering baffled through the dust." -- Julius C. Lacking

in her inspired and inspiring new @akashicbooks memoir, 'AlphaPussy: How I Survived the Valley and Learned to Love My Boobs,' @ginagershon recalls key moments in her upbringing and working life that have made her the confident, strong (some may even say "tough") person she is today.

in this clip from our recent Kreative Kontrol pod talk, she discusses how training for the film 'Bound' led her to meet, befriend, and suddenly fight @bobdylan who, as some of you may know, is someone I greatly admire but would also fight if he asked me to. by @hwpr_la

@ginagershon grew up in the suburban #SanFernandoValley, just like we did, but our stories diverged when Gina’s family moved “over the hill”, and she started high school. Her new memoir, AlphaPussy: How I Survived the Valley and Learned to Love My Boobs is packed with stories about her youth, building her career, music, many of which shares with us. She’s funny, candid, inspiring, and a delightful interview. We highly recommend the book AND the podcast. this is just a clip from the recent Kreative Kontrol talk I had with @anidifranco about 'The Spirit of Ani - Reflections on Spirituality, Feminism, Music & Freedom,' which is a book she co-authored with @laurencoylerosen and is out now via @akashicbooks

you might be thinking, "well, this seems like a short conversation for two people to have about a book. books are so long." I cannot stress enough that this is just a clip from a longer conversation. it's very common nowadays for people to share brief clips from expanded conversations to entice people to seek out the longer talk, and that's exactly what this is. please! this is just a clip! we had a much longer talk than what you're seeing in this clip! I hope this is clear! by @hwpr_la
