Throwback to the 4th @dubaieye1038fm feature with the legend @djcoolmark in 2024 at the @arnnewscentre studio. Time does fly indeed, feels like we had this conversation yesterday! We spoke about the music scene, my music career, the podcast (which still wasn’t launched back then) and much more.

Grateful for the places music has taken me 🕊️

I called. They answered.
And for that, I’m Grateful.

GPS 1. For the People Who Make it happen.
@gpsummituae

Last night reminded me of something important — we have a real community here

What started as a simple idea became a room full of people from across sports, entertainment, production, media and fan engagement — sharing ideas, making connections and supporting one another.

I may have started the conversation, but this community gave it life.

To my ISEZA & On The Mic Fam, our speakers, panelists, partners, friends, guests and everyone who contributed behind the scenes — thank you for trusting the vision and showing up.

This was a pilot. We learned a lot. But seeing this photo makes me incredibly proud of what we started together.

This is only GPS 1.

Now we build. Build bigger.

Great to be part of the first Game Presentation Summit! @gpsummituae

A room full of familiar faces, plenty of new ones, and some really interesting conversations around what goes into creating the experience around a game.

MCs, broadcasters, producers, talent managers and people working across different sides of sports and game presentation, all sharing experiences and perspectives from the industry.

Always good to connect, learn, exchange ideas and meet more of the people behind the scenes who bring these events to life.

A big thank you to @iseza_zone for coming on board as the venue partner and giving the summit a great home.

Great first edition. Plenty more to come! taken in One Central Dubai by @hydyys

Big thanks to @tiib.dubai at Dubai Knowledge Park for having me at the academy to talk about something very close to my journey: turning passion into a profession.

We spoke about the realities behind building a sustainable career in music, the lessons I’ve learned along the way, and everything that happens beyond simply being good at what you do.

Really enjoyed sharing my journey, experiences, mistakes and learnings with the next generation of creatives.

Thank you for having me, TIIB 🫡 taken in Dubai Knowledge Park by @hydyys

There’s a different kind of energy on campus when a new batch arrives. ✨

At TIIB, learning happens through expert sessions, meaningful conversations, new ideas, industry exposure and in between, through music, laughter, friendships and moments that make campus life unforgettable. 🎶📚

Our new batch has brought the campus alive with curiosity, ambition and so much positive energy. From learning from people who have been there and done it, to simply enjoying the journey together every day is a new experience.

Because education should not just prepare you for a career.
It should make you excited about the person you’re becoming. 💙

Welcome to the TIIB journey. 🚀 by @hydyys

When I started playing full-time in 2018, I had around 30-40 songs that I could confidently play live. Which, funnily enough, is roughly what you need for one standard 3 x 45 minute night. That’s 135 minutes of music, so depending on how you perform the songs, how much you interact, extend certain sections etc, somewhere around 30-40 songs can get you through a night.

But the more nights you play, the bigger that list needs to become. And it’s not just about the number. You can learn 100 songs, but if they’re all songs YOU like, that doesn’t necessarily make it a useful setlist.

Over the years I’ve learnt that the crowd tells you a lot about what needs to stay in your repertoire. What gets people singing, what gets requested again and again, what works early in the evening, what works when the room gets louder, and what works in one venue but completely falls flat in another. There are songs I love that haven’t really worked for me live, and songs I probably wouldn’t listen to at home that have stayed in my setlist for years because people love hearing them.

So yes, the number matters. But knowing what songs to have, when to use them and when to change direction matters a lot more. I started with around 30-40 songs in 2018. The list is now a few hundreds, and I’m still adding to it. I don’t think that part ever really ends. taken in Dubai, United Arab Emirates by @hydyys

A few things I make sure of at every gig:

Hydrate.
Three hours of singing is a lot easier when you’re not remembering water halfway through the last set.

Ask for requests.
Not just because people like hearing their song. It’s one of the easiest ways to understand the room. What are they listening to? What kind of mood are they in? What’s going to get them involved? Sometimes one request tells you where to take the next 45 minutes of the set.

And actually have fun up there.
If you look like you’re just getting through the songs, the audience can feel it. If you’re enjoying what you’re playing, that energy usually finds its way into the room too.

Hydrate. Read the room. Have fun.

Simple things, but they make a difference. taken in Dubai, United Arab Emirates by @hydyys
