Fourteen years ago, IIFT Delhi taught me international business.

This weekend, I went back to share what the world is teaching us now.

Our panel at Trade Winds 2026 explored
"Crossing Borders: Enterprise Scale and Startup Agility in a Reglobalizing World."

A few reflections:
Reglobalization isn't de-globalization.
It's globalization with trust built in.

Trade spent three decades optimising for cost. It's now being rebuilt for resilience.

Moving production is the easy part.

Warehousing, fulfilment, compliance and finance have to follow it.

India has quietly built the rails.

Logistics cost is now officially estimated at about 8% of GDP.

The National Logistics Policy, Gati Shakti, ULIP and ONDC give India a digital public stack for trade that few countries can match.

The world is noticing.
Seven countries have approached Hyphen SCS to explore expansion, and each wants a different piece of the same platform.

Going global isn't copy-paste.
It's one engine, configured for every market.

SMEs face the steepest barriers.
Heavy upfront costs, opaque rules and limited capital still keep small businesses out of global trade.

Solving that matters as much as any trade agreement.

AI is cutting the cost of trust.
Verification, matching, documentation and compliance that took weeks now take minutes.

In cross-border trade, where trust is the most expensive input, that's a game-changer.

Agility is a culture. Scale is a system. Crossing borders needs both.

Fourteen years ago, this campus taught me international business.

That Zepto, Blinkit, or Amazon order you received earlier today started its journey from a manufacturing plant to multiple warehouses across states, districts, cities, to your nearest delivery hub.

As a logistics firm with over 67,900 warehouses, our warehouses process thousands of packages every day for different brands. We want to make learning about warehousing fun for our readers.

Warehousing Games is a series of interesting questions surrounding the logistics industry. It’ll test your warehousing know-how, challenge warehousing myths, and make learning fun. The winners will be rewarded at the end of each season.

𝗥𝘂𝗹𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸

  • 𝗗𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Each season will run for a fixed period of 1 month, with one poll posted per week. Hyphen team will release the right answers in the subsequent week.

  • 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Each Poll will have 5 answers. A winner will be selected randomly based on voting frequency and accuracy.

  • A participant with 2 correct answers and 2 incorrect answers would have a higher probability of being picked a winner compared to a participant with one correct answer versus and no other participation.

  • Participants selecting ‘Other’ answer in a poll will be required to input their answers in the comment section.

The best leaders don’t just lead. They make people around them feel seen.

I have had the privilege of learning from Mr. T. V. Narendran Sir, CEO & Managing Director of Tata Steel and Immediate Past President of AIMA, through multiple AIMA Council interactions, where I represented AIMA Young Leaders Council as its National Chairman, alongside my role as Co-founder of Hyphen SCS, India’s largest warehousing and fulfilment platform.

Being one of the youngest people in a room filled with some of the country’s most accomplished business leaders can sometimes feel intimidating.

But Narendran Sir has an incredible ability to make young leaders feel comfortable, heard and confident enough to share their perspective.

One small incident has stayed with me.

At a dinner hosted by Narendran Sir, I walked up to him and asked for a picture.

The first thing he asked was:

“Did you get a picture with Kapil?”

I said no.

He immediately introduced me to Kapil Dev Sir and made sure I got a picture with him.

For someone else, it may seem like a very small gesture.

For me, it meant much more.

He could simply have taken a picture with me, and I would have been more than happy.

Instead, despite me being among the youngest and most junior people in the room, his gesture said something far more powerful:

I see you.

That is what great leadership often looks like.

Not always in speeches, designations or boardrooms, but in small moments—making someone feel included, opening a door, giving confidence, or creating an experience they may remember for years.

True leadership is not about making your own importance felt, but about making others feel valued in your presence.

And perhaps the greatest leaders are those who use their stature not to create distance, but to lift others along the way.

Grateful for the opportunity to learn from your leadership, Narendran Sir. Humbled and honoured to have experienced it firsthand.
