• Album Notes •
On this final chapter, Notturno's blend of depressive black metal and classical/chamber elements remain as essential as ever, with compositions that swell and collapse, dynamically shifting between a chilling nocturnal atmosphere and an urgent desperation, an uneasy calm permeating the quiet before inevitable tumultuous waters. Morphing between a haunting eerie atmosphere, dramatic gothic terror, and depressive black metal despondency, "Heads" explores a range of moods over long-form compositions, taking cues from previous albums but developed with greater patience and intensity.

• Album Notes •
Without abandoning the emotional core that has always defined Marea, the album sharpens every aspect of its songwriting, resulting in a record that is simultaneously more incisive, more melodic and more refined than anything the band has released before.
Rooted in atmospheric black metal and post-depressive black metal, "A Caress of Autumn for All the Lost" refuses to remain confined within genre boundaries. Balzarini continuously shifts between textures and dynamics, allowing songs to unfold through subtle transformations rather than predictable contrasts.
Throughout the album, delicate melodic brushstrokes occasionally recall the melancholic elegance of fellow Italian visionaries Novembre, enriching an already expansive emotional palette.
The result is a work enveloped in an autumnal melancholy that permeates every note. Its atmosphere is fragile yet piercing, intimate yet expansive, balancing moments of despair with glimpses of fragile beauty.
With "A Caress of Autumn for All the Lost", Marea reaches a new level of artistic maturity, crafting an album that transcends stylistic labels through nuanced songwriting, emotional honesty, and a rare ability to transform melancholy into something deeply moving.

SIGURÐUR - NIU LIF EINARS HRAFNS

• Album Notes •
The conceptual and epic black metal album "Nine Lives of Einarr the Raven" is a Czech and Icelandic solo project by the musician and musicologist Martin Sigurður Kajzar. At its core, it seeks to preserve and honour medieval melodic traditions while employing tonal structures characteristic of Northern European and Norse cultures.
The album is original in its harmonic design, with motivic development that draws on both minimalism - often bordering on trance - and a wide range of modal modulations. The compositional approach, with recurring motifs linked to characters and events, recalls the broader Wagnerian concept of Leitmotif. Tritones mark elements of evil, while the Dorian mode evokes the spiritual realm. Sigurður thus weaves a sophisticated and often rigorous connection between the musical and textual planes. Referencing tradition and identity, the record also features a variation on an old Icelandic lullaby and a chorale using the lyrics by the Icelandic poet Hallgrímur Pétursson (1614–1674).
