Activate your heart.
Let winter soften the edges.
Let slowness make room for connection.

With Valentine’s Day approaching next week, we are choosing presence over rush. One connection at a time. We’re endlessly grateful for the warmth each of you bring into our studio and for the chance to share flowers shaped with care, and intention.

Pre-sales for flowers are live on our website, but we will be closing online orders on Sunday 2/8 at 8pm. 💌

Also, for those of you who are nearby, we encourage you to visit our neighbors at @lyonstreetcafe who have just released their seasonal drink menu—an invitation to linger a little longer. The Tiramisu Latte is incredible. 🕊️ by @hyssop.studio

There is a particular joy in serving couples whose love will soon fill the @glasshousecommunity Tomorrow is full of consultations, and we’re so looking forward to connecting with the couples who have entrusted us to be their florist—to listen closely, dream alongside you, and begin shaping what your celebration will feel like.

We love seeing our flowers enrich the natural beauty of the @glasshousecommunity and we can’t wait to get our hands on blooms and begin bringing each of these visions together.

All of these images are from Natalie and Kyrell’s wedding last year, captured beautifully by @mckennalongphoto - Watching everything come together alongside such a wonderful team of vendors was a true honor, and a reminder of why we love this work. 💌

This Saturday, we are excited to host our friend @wear.quarter and her first collection of curated vintage and second-hand pieces. 10% of all profits will be given to the Michigan Immigrant Rights Center (MIRC), a legal resource nurturing safety, dignity, and belonging for Michigan’s immigrant communities.

Whether you stop by to explore the collection or offer your support through a donation at michiganimmigrant.org, each act of care, however small, spreads outward, shaping a community that flourishes in justice and belonging. by @hyssop.studio

I have to wonder—is there a word for receiving a gift at exactly the right moment? We were just given The Language of Flowers, by Kate Greenway. Its worn edges and whimsical illustrations are a quietly powerful reminder of the healing language of flowers.

Flowers are a medicine we don’t always know we need. We are drawn to their fragrance, colors, and textures, even if we don’t call ourselves artists—and there is something profoundly beautiful in that.

Amid winter storms, people have shared their milestones: a proposal, a hard day, a baby’s birth, a friend healing in the hospital. There are threads connecting these stories, and it feels good to pause on the symbols in our lives that ground us, that unite us—the beauty we can share, the abundance we can pass along.

We believe it matters to show up for people beyond our small social circles. It is painful to witness injustice and feel unsure how to make strides towards a meaningful change. While we acknowledge our friends and neighbors who have chosen to close their doors, we hope it doesn’t feel too contrasting that our studio will remain open—as it is a personal space that grounds us, a space that feels like an extension of our hearts.

We will be there for anyone who wants to join us in reflection—whether working on a puzzle together, stepping into our cooler to smell the flowers, or simply being in good company. No purchases necessary. 🕊️ We’re also happy to help anyone who might need assistance reaching out to our senators to share their voice.

Lastly, we will be planning a fundraiser for our website—hopefully sharing flowers while raising funds for organizations doing vital work supporting those in need. We believe in collective safety and wellness, in the sacredness of immigration, and in the power of love and community.

While we brainstorm, we’d love to hear from you: leave one word or a flower type in the comments that resonates with you, and we’ll share it our stories. I'm hopeful that we will begin to notice patterns and repetition, in the ways we are connected.

There is power in presence. Power in beauty. Power in solidarity. by @hyssop.studio
