"Andrea Was Here." (2026)
35mm Double Exposure B&W Prints

This project was one of the most difficult things I've ever worked on. I went through around 25 years worth of my parents negatives, spanning from 1993 to 2007. My classmates watched me hunched over the lightboxes in our lab, going over negative, after negative, finding a place for myself in my family's past.

In this body of work, I super imposed myself into significant moments in my parents' lives through double exposure prints in the dark room. I made meticulous stencils, cutting out my exact figure, hoping to finally blend myself into memories I wasn't originally apart of.

My family has always meant a lot to me, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel a bit of jealousy that they got to live out a golden era in their lives that I wasn't present for. Through this project I was able to create a physical blending between space and time, and even reunite with some family members who have since passed.

A lot of prints I made didn't make it into the final edit of the project, but I'll never forget processing a photo of my grandfather for the first time, and how I was brought to tears.

Don't throw away your negatives. They're a physical token of memories. Light touched your subject in such a way, and it was permanently etched into a film cell. This way we can all live forever. by @hysterichorses
