It was a beautiful day to look and marvel at butterflies, while discussing their plummeting numbers and disrupted migration patterns. Everyday it becomes more important to observe and document what's around us.

🐦 A small bird. A bigger conservation story.

Through its wildlife tracking efforts, HyTiCoS has documented an increase in Black-bellied Tern (Sterna acuticauda) sightings in the Kawal landscape, from around once a year to 4–5 times annually!

📍 Observations span Kistapur Lake, Indhanpally and Kadem Reservoir.

Tiger reserves protect more than tigers. By safeguarding habitats, they can also support other threatened species.

🌿 Every observation counts. Every habitat matters.

Conservation starts from childhood. 🌿

This Wildlife Week, HyTiCoS, through its Vanajeeva Vidya programme, collaborated with the Amrabad Tiger Reserve Forest Department to conduct nature and wildlife awareness programmes at two schools in Amrabad Mandal - TGWR EIS Mini Gurukulam School, Elamapally, and Tribal Government High School, Mannanur.

Reaching 130 students across both schools, the sessions explored the importance of forests and wildlife, ecological balance, food chains, and biodiversity conservation.

Students were encouraged to respect wildlife, protect their natural surroundings, maintain cleanliness, and reduce plastic use, reinforcing how small everyday actions can contribute to a healthier environment.

Through Vanajeeva Vidya, we aim to nurture curiosity, compassion for wildlife, and a sense of responsibility towards nature among the next generation.

One conversation at a time. One school at a time. A future that values nature.

Some questions don’t leave you; they change the way you see the world. 🌿

During our recent walk with Hyticos, Harshita left me with a question that continues to linger: What would my surroundings have looked like 100 years ago?

A few clips from our walk around Mahendra Hills, Secunderabad, capture glimpses of the vibrant living ecosystems around us and deepen my curiosity about their stories.

Grateful to be part of this growing ecosystem and feeling called to do my bit to protect our Mother Nature and spread more awareness.

The Tiger on the Wall: A Sacred Symbol of the Gond Community

In many Gond communities, traditional art is more than decoration, it is a way of expressing their deep connection with nature, forests and wildlife.

A beautifully painted tiger on the wall of a Gond home, revered as a sacred symbol, reflects the cultural relationship between people and the forest. The tiger represents strength, protection and the spirit of the wild, and its presence in the home carries a sense of respect and reverence.

These traditional paintings remind us that wildlife conservation is not only about protecting animals, it is also about respecting the cultures and traditions of communities that have lived alongside wildlife for generations.

🌿 Culture • Community • Conservation
🐅 Protect Wildlife. Respect Culture.

What happens when we slow down enough to let the wild speak? 🍃

This morning at Mahendra Hills, as part of Hyticos’ 25th anniversary, I joined a lovely nature walk hosted by Harshita. I came away feeling like a sponge, soaking in the wisdom of rocks, water and the wild through every sense.

My lungs thanked me for breathing deeper, my ears delighted in the birdsong, and my senses came alive to the fragrance of wildflowers and the little wonders hiding in plain sight.

Sometimes, nature doesn’t just show us something new. It awakens something within us. 🌿

25 Years of HyTiCoS | 25 Years for the Wild

..It all began in 2001 at Eturnagaram Wildlife Sanctuary, a sobering discovery...mess of prime forest with large trees felled and burnt, old forests turned into ground and ash, wildlife killed for various reasons and then only one Tiger pugmark found after five days of searching!!

For Asif and Imran Siddiqui, it was a call to action. And so, the idea of conservation and eventually HyTiCoS was born.

From tiger conservation and scientific research to habitat restoration, community engagement and wildlife education, 25 years have shaped a journey rooted in one enduring mission: protecting wildlife by protecting the ecosystems, ensure their right to exist, be an helping hand of forest department and staunch supporter of local communities.

25 years of commitment. A lifetime of conservation ahead. Well it is just the beginning...Come rediscover yourself.. & Join us in this conservation saga... by @hyticos
